[MUSIC] NARRATOR: Day two of the NJCAA Men's Golf Championship Tournament resumed after Tuesday's rain delay prevented some
players from completing round one. JAMIE HOWELL: We're making do. Weather wasn't necessarily so
cooperative yesterday, so we didn't quite finish round one. Got 12 groups out
in the course to finish this morning. They'll tee off at 7:30, finish their
round one and in the meantime all the groups that finish yesterday they're
starting round two off of hole number one at 7:20. Same tee times we had
yesterday. NARRATOR: After the remaining teams finished round one it would be New Mexico on top with a team score of 277 and 11 under par.
JAMES BERRY: Yeah we had a great day. Total contribution from all five guys and really, in college golf, that's really
what matters. Most of these teams out here have a couple of horses one, two,
three, but in order to put up a good team score like we did yesterday we have to
have all five guys contributing and we had that for sure. NARRATOR: And there would be a three-way tie for first with Indian Hill's Joe Hodgson, Eastern
Florida's Beck Fox and New Mexico's Liam Duncan, all shooting 5-under par. LIAM DUNCAN: But yeah overall played well and I think as a golf course you have to putt well on.
Take advantage of of your short putts. Try to not mess any of the three, four footers. They're the ones that are key here. So yeah I didn't miss any putts.
Overall pretty consistent round. JOE HODGSON: I mean I got off to a pretty slow start yesterday. I think
I parred the first three and bogey on four but I backed up nicely with a couple birdies and then that's when it really all clicked. BECK FOX: I got rolling up hitting the ball really well was hitting the close.
Kept it in
the fairway and then I was making putts on the front nine and then somehow I found myself 6-under through ten. Just held it there from
till the end, but I was happy with it. I think I took advantage of the easiest
holes on the golf course like I had to and got a good round out of it. NARRATOR: But it'll be Indian Hills who would spread their wings in round two with 18 under par as a team. In a stiff
difference of eight strokes over second place New Mexico. With only three bogeys and 21 birdies Indian Hills top four players would give their team a strong
lead into day three. However New Mexico's Liam Duncan would emerge as top golfer
after day two. It would be his second consecutive 5 under par finish giving him
10-under for the tournament. Here's a look at the leaderboard after day two. Day three will continue tomorrow so
check back for more championship coverage..
