students ever fail this we're just gonna do a little softball toss so i'm gonna toss a softball or a golf ball just down here about 20 yards so you'll notice the first thing that happens the brain's got to go get the ground it's got to use the ground to get the body out of the way so it actually goes down to the ground uses the ground to turn my body so i have full access to my target so if i did it from the side here and i want to toss the ball over here see how the body's got to turn out of the way through the ground this is what we call a human kinetic chain you have one if you got two arms two legs and you are insurable we're all set you have weight shift for golf your human central nervous system is self-preserving and built into the system at 40 million bits per second is your weight shift and your hip clearance and your shallowing of the club i.e your golf swing so let's look at a really cool way that we can go about this so you can feel this for yourself and we always come back to our good old throwing of the club so if i'm going to take a a club and i'm going to throw it ax style notice the first thing that happened i had to get the ground now i'm going to go single hand golf style notice everything has to be out of the way for me to go that way if i don't move my body and i try to chuck it that way it's going behind me now the reason why you're not shifting your weight is because you're making the golf ball your target why would see if the ball is right here in front of me and i want to throw the club at the ball that's all i got to do don't need to shift weight don't need to clear hips so if you want to cancel the weight shift go ahead and try to hit the golf ball right away the brain is facing it and it's going to use the hands and arms in order to meet the golf ball the golf ball is your target good luck as to where you want it to go but if your target is over there and you see the golf ball as the intersection on the way to the target then things change drastically so we take both hands and put it on the club so make sure you got a nice safe place to do this wide open field nothing but trees behind me i got an alignment rod here that i'm going to stay to the right of so i'm going to take this club and i'm going to throw it that way here's a few of my students that have done this at our academy no one ever fails this so i highly recommend you take a look at our videos throwing the club sean clement there's one that's called throwing the club straight sean clement with this alignment rod so we have a very specific target we're going to and we just throw the club toward the target without thinking now here's another way that we can really get proper weight shift through another task that's going to also help you with ball contact so i'm just going to back up here give myself a little bit more grass so you can see this so my goal now is to take the grass from here and to send the grass clippings towards my target over there so send the grass clippings over there now the brain has to go collect the grass clippings from here and extend the grass clippings over there if that was your task you would never do this that's not sending grass clippings that way now here's the cool part if you really understand how to put the ball in the right position anatomically so if i only had one arm and i was sending grass with one arm in that direction notice the center of this machine is my shoulder and notice how the club is constantly cutting the grass underneath the shoulder and i'm sending that grass out there towards the target now when i bring both arms together to take my grip if i'm going to be walking towards you sending grass to the target in our premium channel at wisdomandgolfpremium.com you're going to see kinetic chain facilitation series which is all about facilitating your ability to to deliver that kinetic chain through that front leg with the proper tasks so all i'm going to do is walk and send grass that way here we go send the grass send the grass send the grass send the grass send the grass send the grass extend the grass so notice i'm always catching from the center forward so if you want to make sure that you've got the right divots in your golfing life then what we want to do is set up with the ball in the center so if i'm playing a draw i'm playing at a hair back a center my eyes are on the grass here in front of the ball and i'm delivering those those grass clippings out over the tree that i have in my mind right now that's uh right on the right edge of the fairway so send the grass clippings and that was absolutely flush there was a six iron 206 carry my ball speed was 137 my carry 206.
It just started one degree to the right and my launch angle was 13 degrees the average launch angle for a 7-iron is 16 degrees so i've got a nice downward angle of attack that's really going to give me beautiful strikes with the ball so notice my divot right here in front now i can use the same divot to hit all my shots so i get set up ball of hair back center my eyes are in on the front of this divot right there and i'm going to deliver another air divot in that direction in other words i'm sending a divot peel toward the target with some nice momentum deliver my divot peel in the direction of my target oh man was that just the next divot again notice i still have the same blade of grass that my ball is sitting on i'm still going to use the same air divot my eyes are on the front of the divot i'm sending another divot in the direction of my target using momentum again i could put a blanket on that shot and we got 195 carry just a little thin and just a hair more speed same launch angle 12.3 degrees of launch so i could basically stay here all day and use the same divot to hit all my shots why is that so accurate because i've got a very specific task in mind i'm going that way and another way of looking at it if i were to throw the club from here it feels like i would miss the ball so i'm going to go ahead and throw the club without letting go here we go throw so i threw the club out there the club passes my hands here releases me and then pulls me into my finish so if i lower that to the ground and now i'm thinking hey if i throw this again i'm low enough that the divot is going to get taken in front of the ball so my focus is throwing the club to the right of that alignment rod in that direction using a nice flow of momentum a nice throw once again that started just a little more left than what i wanted 200 yards carry 12.2 launch angle and 135 ball speed so you see the consistency and best yet look at this i still have that same piece of grass isn't that amazing so we're talking super precise ball striking without thinking about the ball all we're thinking about is sending divot peels to the target or grass clippings to the target or throwing the club to the target you get weight shift you get hip clearance how much hip clearance by the way do we get i don't know how much hip clearance at 40 million bits of information per second do i need to throw the club to the right of this alignment rod down the fairway here so let's look at that look where i'm facing so the brain goes to the ground uses the ground to get my body out of the way and notice here coming through impact i'm about 30 degrees open there's where it's going to let go not your job you just want to throw the club that way the brain knows when to let go because you have a specific target so the release of the club is going to find its way in that direction as well so throw that way weight shift takes care of hip clearance which takes care of release point which takes care of finish because you'll have way more finish than you know what to do with and now you'll have to find a way to dissipate the excess instead of wondering why you're not finishing your swing enjoy that we'll see you next week [Music] [Music]
