hi i'm Adam Swords this is my 2016 mark 7 golf r i am building this to be faster than a
supercar and you are watching ANSWRD *Exhaust startup* so my favorite thing about this golf r is actually
the fact that nobody really expects it to be quick *Golf R XFORCE exhaust pull* it looks pretty subtle yes if you know what you're
looking for then you can see that it's got the upgraded brakes you know that there's something
going on with it but you perhaps don't expect it to be almost 400 horsepower and have a 3.6
ish 0-60mph time so i would say that is probably my favorite thing about this car what is my least
favorite thing? my least favorite thing about this car has to be the fact that stock from the factory
it sounds terrible like you hear more engine noise than you do exhaust in fact so much so that
they actually have a thing called a Soundaktor which plays fake engine noise into the cabin
when you're in sport mode so it seems like it makes a better noise than it does so i think
from the factory i wish volkswagen had put a slightly more sporty exhaust on it but other
than that i don't really have many complaints all right so i guess we'll start with the front um
well actually let's start with a general overview so as you can see we've got the 034
wheels that i had custom powder coated in black these are the only set of these in existence
they come in gun metal but because of the whole color scheme that i've got going on i wanted them
done in black so that they kind of have that like stealthy look they match the wrapped roof which
i had done black the mirrors were already black so i just like how it kind of ties everything in
with the b pillars uh and then i had the sun strip added with my little logo right here done black on
black so i did a gloss black on a satin sun strip so it's kind of subtle but like with the sun
hitting it like this it really pops and then if you want to come have a look under the hood then
oh not forgetting my little sticker mod right here so for some reason volkswagen decided to put these
lovely scoops in for the uh intercoolers and then put this detail that's supposed to look like
the back side of the scoop and then they left it filled in so these are just stickers that
make it kind of look like there's an opening and the air would go in and out so that's just kind
of a nice little touch and then under the hood i'm just going to say that if you know what
you're looking for you'll know what we've done but this is the golf r as you can see by the r
logos now these are logos are not the same but if you didn't know what you're looking for you
would think that they were so that's all i'm going to say is we might have done some stuff here
we might have done some stuff here but basically what i've tried to do with this car is keep it as
oem as possible i've tried to keep it looking as factory as possible so when you lift the engine
bay nothing shouts i've been modified for obvious reasons that's why i've done that but i can
assure you that we have done some stuff under here and i'm really pleased like the billet caps for
example from racing line performance they make a huge difference these are normally like this so
this is the last one that needs replacing this ugly blue one but yeah we've got all the billet
uh caps on there um yeah and then a few other little goodies uh but i'm really pleased with how
the engine bay has turned out looks very factory definitely isn't and then if we come around the
side of the car so the car right now is sitting on zero three four motorsport lowering springs
um we also have their camber plates in the top so it just gives me a little bit more camber
in the front uh we have a whole laundry list of stuff so i'm actually building this in
partnership with zero three four with racing line performance and with x-force exhaust and it's
all been put together by uh precision motor works up in san jose and uh we've basically thrown
everything that they have hardware-wise at this thing so fast so we've got things like engine
mounts we've got dog bone mounts we've got rear trailing arms we've got their rear sway bar
on this we've kind of upgraded everything we can i've got a dsg cooler i've got an oil cooler which
are in the front tucked away that you really can't see so again nice and stealthy so we're kind of
future proofing this build for stage three which is ultimately what we're going for and that's
going to be the big 500 horsepower build and so we didn't just want to throw a tune a turbo on
it and call it good we wanted to make sure that we really set the foundation and also on stage
three i'm gonna get some bilstein b16 coilovers so that we can get it to sit a little bit
lower and have that extra adjustability so that it handles just right now if we come around
to the back obviously you can see that we don't have a stock exhaust anymore so this is the
x-force exhaust so this thing is badass because it's valved so it means that when i want to
drive it quietly i can and when i want to be loud and obnoxious i also can and so if i'm on the
freeway i'll have it in normal mode or eco mode with the automatic transmission engaged and
the valves closed and it is whisper quiet and i get 28 to the gallon but when we come up
here what i can do knock it across into manual enable race mode that enables the pops and
bangs from that zero three four stage to tune and then obviously with the valves open it rips
and you can attest to how loud it is um but yeah it sounds great so really pleased with this
exhaust love the chrome tips as well um they're a bit dirty right now but it looks great and it
really kind of finishes off the back end here and then i think pretty much that's it one
thing on the interior that i can show you is a p3 gauge so if you look right here so this
gauge right here from p3 gauges this gives me all kinds of goodies so i have boost right now
i can have coolant temperature speed battery voltage rpms uh inlet temperature exhaust gas
temperature ignition timing throttle position airflow ratio and it also has a 0-60 timer so
that thing is awesome looks real stock again that was kind of the whole thing with this car
is i wanted it all to look as factory as possible while also being badass like i said i'm
building this thing to be faster than a supercar and hopefully by stage three we'll have it check
