extending your own golf clubs at home is actually not as hard as you might think even if you have no idea what you are doing in this video I will break it down and make it really easy to do this video will be all about how to extend your custom golf clubs next week I will have one on whether or not you should extend them the main thing to think about when making repairs your own clubs are what you are going with if you are planning to buy new grips and need one then this no problem at all if you want to save it then I have a separate video on how you can save your golf grips so that would be worth checking out but I don't want to keep repeating myself in every video so I made one for dong , that 's something you have to think about before you do ay club repairs so what you have to do to make your extension in this video look good grip yo first you'll need a hook knife to take off the handle with everything wrong o proof in the description below if you want to verify that even a normal Stanley knife blade will work, if you want to save the grip then you'll need something like this golf grip rod again I made a video on it if you want to check it out which will also be in description and all the videos about this and then when you come to put after the extension is done you will need some liquid type of paint thinner like turpentine or benzine or something like that and just some double sided tape that also after reattaching the handle and then all the way to the extension, that you will need is about 2 part epoxy so Araldite that I can find is probably the best that is like one side and one side hardener and the most important thing you need for extension something you really can't extend without is something that can be extended that's what I bought off EBA It's double sided so you get a 2 in 1 and they come in different shapes and sizes it depends if you do that with steel or graphite because you can get them different because the top of the shaft is different sizes in steel and in graphite and it will basically just push the extension to the end so it's steel and graphite you probably can't tell the difference in size , but just make sure you're buying the right one before you actually go out and buy one you can get little plastic ones that do exactly the same thing and it's just a ridge on the top of them if you can see there that's what keeps it from by making it go all the way down the shaft the way you put it on top so it slides down and once it hits this ridge it doesn't go anywhere further and it works in graphite on the same principle and it comes in plastic plugs from there to there and then it you just cut to size and that's it, so if I put it in here I'm just going to cut it down to how long I want to extend, so you can get these or anything like that for a couple of quid like Amazon or eBay or a bunch of places, which is they do or if you have an old haft lying around you can use one of those if you don't need that anymore it's basically all part of the shaft so in these shafts you can see they have a ridge or a groove littered all the way down the shaft in most of those will work exactly the same, they just come to a point where they hit the ridge and it won't go down any further, so today I'm just going to expand the steel one, the graphite will work exactly the same, even when you get down to the actual cutting it depends on the material of the bit that when cutting you are using if the attachments are also graphite then you will need to cut it with a saw so a regular hacksaw will do if you are cutting steel which is the same as this then you will need a pipe to be cut through by the cutter we will be focusing on steel today but it's the same process as graphite so we're going to take the grip off with either a knife or a golf grip and put the grips back on , we need some double sided tape and some turpentine or white spirit or what any other some sort of grip solution, 2 part epoxy glue and then you just need something to extend the bit so if you're doing a steel pipe cutter if you're doing graphite then the hack saw if you're tearing your grip off then no Don't forget you're going to have a new handle, which you replace the old one so yeah without further ado let's get started it should only take a few minutes to get started just deal with the grip I'm just going to rip this out because I have a new grip instead so I'll just use a hook blade and I cut it straight down the grip all the way to the end and like I say you can do the same thing with just a normal blade so just cut it straight down and it will do the same thing you need to pull it out it should just peel straight like that so if you want to find out how to save a grip and you don't have to buy a new one like i say just watch my next video i'll just clean off any tape that's lying around so we've got a nice clean shaft to work with.

I'm just going to grab my extension, you just mark how much you want to cut it down, so say you wanted like an inch, say it was an inch, so you just make an inch out of the groove on the shaft, mark an inch on it and it's give you a clue where to cut it and that's how long you're going to make it long once you figure out where you want to cut it You're going to want to grab a pipe cutter if you're doing steel and you're just making small cuts and start it into the shaft to give me a line where shorten it try to get it in the same place obviously as you go round and round if you keep tightening it a few times then you're going to get tighter and tighter I'm just going to speed it up because it can take a minute to get the font to really follow well which it was pretty easy actually sop yeah that's straight , not far where i did that line around me before as my guide so how much it lengthens i have to do another extension one day if i want and it's ready be inserted at the end of the shaft as soon as you are mine t your extension ready you just take the Araldite epoxy glue again is pretty good because it comes with a little mixing stick so what I do is I quite like to put some on a piece of paper or whatever I'm using so it there is so i ' I'm just going to extend and we're going to get the smaller piece to get the glue and we have to mix it together so we're just going to turn it probably near the groove in it, with that bit it's going to be in contact on the shaft it doesn't matter, if you make a bit of a mess because it just goes inside the Shaft so you can't see it anyway don't be shy about getting in there a lot once it's covered in glue we can just hit the end of it which is what I like to do then it's just a little bit around it and just make sure there is quite a bit of glue on the extension itself and on the shaft if you feel like you have enough glue on it it won't go anywhere anyway but i pretty much kept the handle straight up then let it dry for 24 hours so e tape will only help it in place so make sure it's pushed down properly, tape it properly and then the handle is ready to go on where the extension really isn't going to go anywhere once the grip is over it and that's literally all there is to it seems a little to good to be true but it's really just straight i let it dry overnight you don't actually have to leave it that long but it's always better to be safe than sorry and then they'll be fine , when they go first morning id maybe only go up to a maximum of an inch and ahlaf 2 inches maybe because not at all what happens after that depends on how deep in the shaft you go but then it starts to change its weight and stuff so id about 2 inches max I actually did this with my kit that's up there in green so what I did was take 6 taper shafts like this and I cut them off at the tip so they fit in the head so i cut them about an inch and a half and then i had to go longer and i had a 5 iron so i had to extend about 2 and a half inches and I used it for about a year and a half and it was find it worked it was absolutely find and aI never had any problems form does this method this is how I have always done it and I have never had any problems so hopefully this will help anyone who is bored at home and just wants to try it on their own it's really easy that even me about 2 minutes to do it 1 like a whole set you can easily do in an hour so just give it is and let me know what you think in the comments if this video helped and I don't see you in the next one thanks for watching
