Hi, good morning. It's early in the morning, sunny, a beautiful sunny day. .. and I am here at the Vidanta golf course in Acapulco. This golf course here belongs to the "Vidanta" chain
of hotels and apartment buildings. But you don't have to stay here. You don't have to spend the night
in the Grand Mayan or in other hotels that belong to the chain, if you want to play here. I didn't do it. So I am here to play a few holes and to show you what this course is like, And I also hope to interview the manager; later on you'll see that in the clip.
And I'll also show you some drone shots. The problem with the drone is: the airport is not so far away, maybe 3 miles or so. So part of this golf course is in a restricted zone,
where you are not allowed to fly the drone at all. And other parts of this golf course in a – sort of – semi-restricted zone,
where I could only fly with a special permission. You see all sorts of golf buggies back there.
It is really highly recommended to use them. I don't even know if you could walk this course, if you are allowed to walk this course. Because on the one hand it gets quite warm here, and humid; and on the other hand, this course is quite elongated. It runs parallel to the beach; but you never see the beach really, and between the golf course and the beach you have this road, this access road,
and also these hotel buildings and apartment buildings. So it is quite a distance from one end of the golf course to the other.
OK, now enjoy this film; and don't forget to push the "like" button. And if you like it, if you like this clip and others on my channel,
then it would be nice if you would subscribe to this channel. So thanks for taking a look at this clip, and I hope you will enjoy
the nice images from this golf course. I'll start on the 10th hole, a par-4, and the only weak spot is me… The clubs that they give you here, if you rent clubs, are actually quite good; Titleist. … cut nice and short, and firm Hi, how are you? – What's your name? – Mariano – Do you live here in Acapulco? No, just in-and-out. And in which city to you live? – In Mexico City. And have you played here before? — Yes — And do you like it? — I love it. And what do you like with this course here? I like, well, because of the heat, because of the greens… Why the greens? – well, they are very flat, very nice greens.
— True — And the views are great.. — Well thanks a lot. Are you here with your father? No, that's my grandfather. Ah, your grandfather – he looks very good. /
Well, good luck then, thanks. Behind me the 16th hole, pretty much the signature hole of this course, An island green, quite big though; but still: psycholigically always a challenge. Close to the main entrance of the Grand Mayan hotel. Hi, hello. Raul, many thanks. I'm Gregor You are the manager of this course, Vidanta .. / yes, at your service, Vidanta Golf Acapulco. Good. How many years does this nice course exist? This course is already 27 years old And when is the high season? Well in Acapulco: the Easter week, the summer holidays, the Easter holiday, the holidays at the end of the year. And here in Acapulco also the long weekends, that too, the weekends. And among the foreigners that come here, when do they normally come? Yes, we have foreigners, they come generally November, December, January, February and March.
those are the months when it is cold at their place
and the climate of Acapulco is very favourable. And from where do they come? Mainly the US, Canada, and also some Europeans. Ah also Europeans. / Not many but they also come, But most from the US and Canada. How many people work here to maintain this course, it is very well maintained. Yes, thanks, We have around 60 people who work here. How many? Sixty. Operation and maintenance of the golf course. . Quite a few.
.. Compared to other golf courses here in the area of Acapulco, what is the special advantage of this course here? It's the location, and another advantage it has it is the maintenance of the course. And the people appreciate that the maintenance of the course here in Vidanta is better than in other ones. And perhaps also the design… Yes, the design, Not too long but narrow. Yes, narrow, that is why there is a lot of distance Players who hit straight don't have that many problems. But the water: I have lost some balls here, in the lake. Water is always tricky. Well, thanks a lot, Raúl.
You're welcome, Gregor – thanks, welcome to Vidanta golf. Hi – hello. Finally a nice stroke here — thanks — Where do you normally play? En "El Cristo", en Puebla.
— And you are visiting here? Yes, visiting / Have you played serveral times here before? A couple of times, yes.. Ah, and what you like here on this couse ? The design, I like that is very well maintained, that we are almost
on our own. Actually, we like everything. Have you played other courses here as well? Yes, we know almost all around here And which one you like best? I'd say "Tres Vidas" and then this one. Well, thanks, and good luck. — Bye.. This lake behind me is tricky .. because it is on the side of the first fairway, hole number 1. Then you have to cross it, for this par-3, about 110, 120 yards across that water. But this hole is handicap 17, so it is not even considered to be that difficult, but of course psychologically it is always a thing to get over the water. This par-3 has no visible water… … but it has this rough and deep grass – perhaps water, I don't know –
but you don't want your ball to land in this …
How many caddies are there? Around 30 caddies. But it is not compulsory to take a caddy? No, it is optional. Ah, good. But it is worth it, because the course is not that easy. Yes, it can help a lot, especially if you don't know the course. Well thanks bye. Hi, good afternoon. Do you work here as caddy? Yes, here at Vidanta Golf Acapulco. Already many years? Two years hear at Vidanta.
