In this video we’ll cover 3 drills with the golf boks to work on your swing plane. We’ll cover an inside takeaway, an over the top move, and how to find the slot. Imagine a line going up through your shaft. An inside takeaway is when you go underneath this line during the beginning of your backswing. This could be caused by rolling your arms early in your backswing, and your lead arm getting too level with your trail arm Or because you don’t have enough wrist hinge in the beginning of the backswing. Set the boks up in our Basic Boks Setup, There’s instructions on the bottom of the boks and a video with step by step instructions on our site.

Practice your takeaway with your shaft sliding on the top edge of the boks, and staying above the foam noodle. Setup a ball at least one clubhead away from the boks. Then hit the ball without hitting anything else. You’ll get instant feedback if your takeaway gets inside. We recommend lots of dry drill takeaways without hitting balls to groove this pattern into your swing. An over the top move is when your downswing comes down steeper than your backswing Imagine a line going from the ball up through your trail elbow, an over the top swing usually comes down over this line. Set the boks up by inserting an alignment stick in the hole labeled RIGHT, and one into a steep swing plane slot based on the club you’re using Slide a foam noodle onto this alignment stick. Set the boks up on the outside of your target line, and your ball near the dimpled graphic towards the front of the boks. When done correctly the foam noodle should point at your shoulders Like this. Make practice swings keeping your club underneath the noodle in the downswing. The hit balls and swing under the foam noodle.

This is what it looks like when you come way over it. You can exaggerate the feeling by setting the swing plane up flatter, or by pointing the Boks more to the right. We recommend starting with a lot of exaggerated pitch shots to get used to the feeling. If you’ve heard about the SLOT before, Here’s a way to practice finding it. In your setup there should be some space between your hands and your body. This is the slot. Whenever the club is parallel to the ground try to match your clubhead and hands up in this spot. Set the boks up by inserting an alignment stick in the hole labeled RIGHT and two alignment sticks in swing plane holes. One swing plane steeper than your club, and one shallower. Cover each alignment stick with a foam noodle. Set the boks up outside your target line, and your ball near the front of the boks. Don’t make any swings over an uncovered alignment stick. You'll get feedback if you go too steep, or too shallow.

Move the clubhead through the slot in the backswing. In the downswing your clubhead should come down in a narrower arc so it should not go through the foam noodles, but it might look like it from some angles..
