are you looking for another fun way for you and your golf buddies to get out onto the golf course and have fun together perhaps you are planning or organizing an upcoming golf outing for your workplace or community organization or even your local league if any of these resonate with you then stay tuned we're going to break down one of the most fun golf formats out there the texas scramble now i love the texas scramble for a bunch of reason the first of them being that i honestly truly think that the texas scramble is on the menu at the waffle house i think it's like hash browns eggs and i think this hash browns just like you can get scattered or smothered but i really do but i digress it's partly because it's lunchtime anyway while i love love love breakfast food any time of the day i love the texas scramble because it's an on-course golf format that gets every member of the team involved in every way and we're going to break down break this all the way down and talk about this here okay so as the name suggests the texas scramble is very much a kissing cousin to the traditional and very popular scramble golf format in that it emphasizes fun without the pressure of players keeping individual scores a lot of players just simply don't like to keep scores it's just too much for them or whatever the case may be no problem as i've discussed in another video and i'll put the link to it in the description here in the scramble format two or more players form a team and each player hits a tee shot on each hole but everyone plays from the spot of the best shot as agreed upon by the team members the team continues with this process until the team holds in in most tournament situations there's a designated shot maximum per whole to keep things running efficiently but all players are definitely involved and that shot maximum turns out to be a good thing because in a lot of situations it can create a long round without it now this format is great and everyone on the team gets to hit plenty of shots so even if a golfer's not hitting usable first shots per se she gets to participate at the same levels as all the other golfers which is perfect now what i really like about the texas scramble as compared to the traditional scramble format is that the texas scramble ensures that shots from each member of the team are counted toward the team's score for the round and that can be important there are several variations of the texas scramble but i'd say that there are a few that are really quite popular and the first of those being one in which a minimum number of drives per person on the team must be used it's not uncommon to find that the local rules in the tournament will stipulate that a set number of drives from each player on the team must be counted toward the team score so for a three-person team is typically four drives per person and three drives per person for four-person teams another really popular variation of the texas scramble stipulates that a member of the team cannot hit two shots in a row that count toward the team score so here if there's a team of say four players only the three whose previous shot was not used play the next shot and in just a moment we're going to really dig in and discuss how and when the texas format might actually be a better option for you your group or your event but first if you are finding this video to be helpful to you would you please take a moment and hit the like button doing so helps ensure that other viewers like yourself can more easily find this video and this channel thank you okay so as you know on this channel my sole mission is to help you soar with your golf strength and to equip you with the skills the strategy and the knowledge needed so that you can confidently play on the course with golfers of any and every level no more waiting around and the texas scramble is a great option to facilitate just that i mean it fits perfectly the traditional scramble format is versatile and does work well with groups of mixed experience levels skill sets and you know the like however there are really some instances where i believe that the texas scramble format that we've been discussing here might actually be a better fit the first one would be in a situation where organizers truly truly truly want to ensure that the shots of all golfers are given weight as part of the team scoring let's be honest many experienced golfers and i'm gonna just go ahead and raise my hand can tell you about times when you know they've been in groupings where the newbies or the less experienced golfers get lots of shots as part of the traditional scramble format but absolutely none of them factored into the team scoring none and so here using a format that doesn't allow for that is a great way to naturally create full involvement and engagement for every player the second situation is this one when you're looking for a format for a golf event whose target audience may prefer a slightly more competitive opportunity the texas scramble format is definitely a great draw for groupings that frequently play together as tournament teams and have refined their strategy for going low they know the order of who needs to hit when and so they really enjoy that competition third one is when the golf event is also serving as a team building exercise whether it's a corporate employee event a company partner mixer or something similar the texas scramble format is great for relationship building because the team regardless of individuals playing abilities must communicate thoroughly and work together to create a strategy or plan which is team building so i'm hoping that you're beginning to see that there are just so many ways to ensure that golfers of all experience levels and skill levels can get out into the course and play no more just hitting balls in the range or waiting for the beginner clinic at the annual fundraiser or skipping the golf altogether and waiting for the luncheon no more the texas scramble is certainly a great option for a bunch of situations of course this is just one of many there are so many great format and ways to get out there on the course beyond just traditional stroke play so to learn more about some other golf formatted on course check out this next video here on the screen [Music] you
