– My best ever really. – Lincoln Markham! – Lincoln Markham! (cheering) – One of the favorite things that we have and that we do is golf. We have a golf simulator inside of our garage. We've been filming golf videos since our very first videos that we ever did for his second grade science project. So, you know that's something that we really enjoy. This last year Lincoln has gotten really involved in golf. Like he goes out with his friends and they golf all the time. He's on the high school team, which is a really fun thing. Last year, they won the state championship in golf when he was a freshman.

This year, how did you do in State? – We tied for first, went to a play-off and we lost. – So you took second place. – We took second, but yeah. – It was a good year and based off of this year of high school golf, Lincoln was able to play a lot in the tournaments. He even took first team all State. I don't think anyone can really thinks that high school golf is really all that big and important but it's really fun and it's cool to see kind of the success and it's fun to be part of a team and to do all those things.

So, I have kind of backed off this last summer and fall and didn't film very many of Lincoln's golf tournaments because I want you to be able focus on your golf and have fun. So today I thought it would be fun to share one of his rounds where I got my super far away camera lens and I filmed basically his entire round. So this is a round tell me a little bit about this round first. – So this is like the fifth out of the eight tournaments I think.

And I just shot under par for one of the first times in high school tournament. I think I shot 70 two under par and then I shot 69 I did it. I shot two under par back to back weeks. So I was like, oh, it's okay. This is a course I know it's at Green Springs. Planning on playing decent like probably shooting like a 75. Like I would have been happy with that. I just played really well. I shot 66 and ended up tying for first, even though they don't do playoffs, which is a little unfortunate, but yeah, this is my second best segment's round in the high school off year. – 66 I know he doesn't think it's that big of a deal but I'm like this is a 66. Like I've never shot that far below par, par was a 72. This is one of the more difficult courses in Southern Utah in St.

George. There's a few holes that we brought Erik Anders Lang for when we did the best 18 holes in Utah. I think we did three of them on this course. And the reason why we chose these three specifically, one of them is because it was beautiful. It was like over a canyon. The other two is because they're two of the harder courses and all of a Southern Utah hardest holes. Yes, two of the harder holes. In fact, (laughing) after we played one of the holes, I think it's the 11th hole. Erik Anders Lang who loves golf said. – Okay, this my least favorite holes on planet earth out of the way. If I had to play this hole lot, I probably wouldn't enjoy golf that much. It takes so much that you could only really have one hole that is difficult on the course. You know what I mean? – Yeah. – Because that's how hard this hole is. So I thought that was funny cause I think Erik got like a nine in the video and Lincoln got a three he birdied it, so, but that's golf.

Like once you understand the hole it's a little bit easier but still not the easiest course. So, we're just gonna go through and watch and some of the video, commentate a little bit and react to some of his round and even show afterwards for the award ceremony. (crowd cheering) – Lincoln Markham! – Lincoln Markham! (audience cheering) – And oh, let me show you the score, hold on. – Do you have like the poster of it? – Uh huh! – Oh, you framed it? (Dan laughing) You framed it. – This is the round right here. I framed it. – You framed it. – I'm gonna put it in our golf simulator. – Oh my gosh! (Dan chuckling) So we shot, this was one of the best tournaments as like our team. We shot 20 under par as a team.

– 268. – I think we won by 35 or something. – They whipped up, you got a 67, two 67s by the number one and number two player on Lincoln's high school team. And then a 68 by the number three player on his team and then Lincoln and then Preston shot a 73, which is really good just one over par it's par 72. – Yeah. – And then you got a 66 which is insane. Out of the… Oh then Sean Felts, good dude. First year playing golf representing well, but we got the top six from his high school team. And then what they do is they add up the scores for the top four. – Top four of the six and that's the one that they all count.

– So they dropped off this one and they dropped off this one and it's just these red ones. Red means it's under par. So, yes we framed it. I know it's embarrassing. – Yeah. – We're gonna put it in our golf simulator room. All right, react time. We're getting to the video. Now I tried to film every single shot, but I didn't, when you're watching this it's going to have like the whole par number of shots right now we're watching it. First of all it was a par 4. Hit your drive a little bit left. This hole is a lot more difficult than what it looks on this video clip because… – It's really uphill and I pulled the wrong club. I pulled 8-irons at a 9-irons. So I flew yeah. – Yeah. I mean it's hard to see the green from where you can't even see it. But if you're gonna miss, you wanna miss deep so you don't miss short and have it roll off to the front.

So not that miss, just two putt for par would be a nice way to start it. (soft music) – Yeah and I read it awful. It was a terrible putt. I still had like five feet and I was kinda nervous over this putt like this could be a terrible start. – And he made it. (Dan laughs) so I didn't show that. Okay so we two putt for par. So, yeah on the green and regulation two putt for par, this is the next hole. Another par 4 down the hill. Good drive down the hill.

– And this is like, this is hole it was like shotgun start. So I started on a full like 13, I think. So yeah I started whole 13 so this whole 14 really. – So downhill par 4. – So I hit my drive in the fairway. Yeah. And I just, I pulled it. So I hit it really right well on green but I still had like 30 feet for a birdie. (indistinct) Kevin asking about our shower, how the carwash shower is working at our house. – Long putt. I made it. So that was a good birdie. – Settle down boy. (Dan laughing) – That was a heck of a birdie though. – Yeah, it was a long putt. It was good. – Yeah, not bad to have a birdie on your second hole. So your 100 through two. Putt 3 over the water. (soft music) – So now I've got a big putt and I missed short left. And the pin was in a really tough spot from where I was, but I did not hit a great putt.

It was downhill when they thought, so I had like hit, hit back for birdie for par I mean. And I pushed it. – That was a bogey. – That wasn't great. – Yeah, so you're even par through three. And just to give you a little insight, a little sneak peek of what's to come here and the scores. That was the only bogey of the day. – Yeah. – The whole day. And it was a three putt I mean you're just off the green. It still counts as a putt, three putt from like 25 feet. So, the next one is a par 5.
– Is up the hill par 5 and it's definitely reachable into, high school golf, they should play it from further back but if you know golf, like there's a bunch of different tee boxes and we play it from the second furthest ones. So we play for the whites really here. Cause the tips is the blue. So it's like 6,200 yards, which really is not that long. So it's pretty short and especially from here, it's definitely reachable into. – But this screen, this one gives me problems because there's a giant like ravine and your elevated green.

Like yeah, for me it gives me a problem. Let's watch. Okay drive. (soft music) Great swing. – I don't even know what I tracked where it landed. Should be on the right. – Oh, okay so landed right there. It's in the fairway this is approach shot on a par 5 over a canyon instead of green that you can't really see. – I had a six iron and I hit it really good.

And yeah, it was a good shot. I had that for eagle (soft music) And then I made it. – Eagle putt! – So I made an eagle. So you're what, 2-under now? – Yeah, now I'm 2-under. – 2-under, that's great eagle. – Yeah and then this par 3. I hit a big draw to the right side of the green wasn't a great shot. Actually no, nevermind. That was a different time. That was a great shot. – You had a really, your tempo looks really good on your screen. All right, here we go for birdie. – I thought the plush had gone in and you can see a jump right? Like right couple seconds after. And I thought it should have gone in, it was a perfect putt but I just got unlucky. – So you made the par putt. So there you go. Par, the next one is a par 5 downhill.

You hit your first shot already. You hit your second shot to the left, right? And your lit green side. So it is another par 5. And here we go. Third shot into the green and it got onto the green to here again. I didn't film every single shot. I did my best. So this is tech… This is for birdie. – This is for birdie. (soft music) Or maybe not, maybe not.

For birdie, oh! It's not long. – He's gonna get a putt. – Birdie putt! 3 under. – So it's 3 under and then that was hole 18. So now we're on the front nine. So I was like, I was pretty happy. Cause once I came around on the other side, I was gonna be like 3 under on the back which is good. So then this is hole number one. – Par 4. I love hours of red rock in the background it's so pretty. – I can't really tell you I did not hit it very far, but I went in the fairway, which is good. And this is my worst shot of the day.

I just chunked it. Like it was awful. (Dan laughing) I like how I just dropped the camera. – I had 87 yards out there's just like a good tempo of wedge which I should've put it really close and I just completely chunked it. It was wet to be fair. But then I had pretty long chip. – All right, so this is basically you gotta get up and down to save par on this after the not so great chunky chip there. (soft music) There was a big false front so I hit to really good chip and bounce it up against it. – There wasn't as much getting to work with on that. So that was really good. – Thank you. So good job getting it close dude. Next to par. Okay, now we are on another par 3 with the biggest screen there exists in the world. – It's not that big. – That's what I call it. – It's not that big. I hit a good shot. I thought it was gonna go like right next to the flag, but it ended up going really deep for some reason.

I shouldn't have gone that far because yeah that is deep. Then a pretty long putt. And I hit a good putt. Almost made it. Just left it a little right. Just shot it ahead of par. – Does that feel different in the past? Like that type of confidence when you're standing over a ball and you long putt do you feel pretty confident like you know you're gonna get the speed. – Not really the greens were… The greens weren't great that day and I just got lucky. – Why weren't great? – There's still bumpy and slow. But I don't know. – Yeah, cause that speed's it's crazy. – It was a really easy putt. It was just pretty flat up the hill a little bit. So you just have to putt. – All right, still 3 under. There, Par 4, you just hit your drive already. Now out in the middle of the fairway with an approach here.

I had like a… Yeah, I had like pitching wedge out and it caught a little (indistinct) so it didn't go as far. And I just missed it and there was like a big hill there. So that's why. – And from this angle, it looks really close. – It looks really close it's probably 25 feet for birdie. – This is a pretty putt. – Not a pretty putt. Yeah, it was very low. It wasn't a great putt there. – How bad? Okay. – But then I just made par. – So there we go. Another par three pars in a row on this front nine. Now we get to this hole. It is another par 5. So if you remember the other par 5s he's got an Eagle, he's got a birdie.

And now this was crazy because… – This par 5 is really, really short. Again like this is why this course is easier than most of the other high school courses cause every par 5 you have iron out. So I had a really good drive and I had like a five iron out and I just hit a little left and long. – So this putt is another eagle putt, right here.

Not close. Like you're not, it's a pretty far putt. I thought I made it right about there. I was like, oh I made it I made it. I got really happy but I just left a short. So then I made that for birdie. And then this is a really cool par 3. – This is the one we did… It was the one hole that he remembered that he mentioned on the video where he's like, I played this before and it's just beautiful over the ravine.

– And that I just pulled the wrong club didn't swing hard enough. So I left it. I left a short, which wasn't great. Especially as there's a big hill right there. But then this was… See this is where luck comes. I was really lucky that day with my putts so this was just a really lucky putt up the hill. (soft music) So I made that birdie just… – Look at your face you're like laughing. – Yeah. Should not have gone in. (Dan laughing) – You're even like stuck out you're tongue I don't know what that move was. – And this is probably one of the toughest holes in St. George. Not from this tee box it's a lot easier, but like you have like three-wood and it's a really tight fairway. And then if you hit like a really good shot, you'll have like a six iron out still over a ravine.

That's really scary. So, see I think I hit iron or maybe hybrid here. You know I hit iron off the tee I hit it well. (soft music) So like I still had like a 5-iron out there, which is scary. Like, if you take a bogey here, like I'm happy with a bogey cause it's basically like a net part cause everyone's shoots on this hole. – That's a tough one. This shot is the tough one. (soft music) Let's see it drop down on the right. – Yeah so I just wanted to make sure to clear the ravine. You should not be scared, but it's a scary shot, especially from the angle I was and I just left it really long in the green. – This was terrible plus you chipped it. – I had a really bad lie in the fringe. I left it really, really low in short.

I got a terrible plot. There is a big hill next to the green. – There's like an (indistinct) Oh no he's having such a good round. And now he's gonna 3-putt and get really angry. Hulk angry man is gonna come out. Made that then you made it. I was like, oh my gosh that was such a good putt – And this hole is par 5 there's a little flow, like ravine like water things. So you have to hit like hybrid from these tee boxes. (soft music) And I hold it, it wasn't great. No it was fine. And I hit my approach to there I hit iron cause I didn't wanna be in the bunkers So I hit iron to there. And then I just had a wedge out like 70 yards or something. – So when you hit this, you hate it. Look at that. And you look down at the ground and like, what is under there? – I pulled it. I pulled it.

It shouldn't have gotten that close. – But then you look at where it ended up and it's like, oh… – It was on the green. – So this is a birdie par. – Yeah, it's a birdie par on the par 5 and yeah, it wasn't a good yeah, I left that one really high. It didn't break it all. I thought it was going to. I hit a good putt but I shouldn't have put my wedge shot like 35 feet from 70 yards. It's like my wedges were just a little off. – So next one is a par 4. You hit into the fairway. This is the approach onto the green for number two. (soft music) – And I hit a terrible golf shot.

It wasn't great. Sure the hill, you can't really see because it's on camera but there's a really, really big hill. So I was like expecting the 3 putts because that's a really tough putt. I was expecting that also. – I mean you see the ball disappear. It goes up the hill stays there on the low side. – That was a good putt there. I hit like three, four feet. – Yeah that looks really close. So this is for par. Nice par based off of that approach shot. – And this is a whole number nine. – Good drive, sticks it out in the fairway. – Yeah. He hang this hole in the fairway. And then approach shot. – I thought it was really, really good. I thought it was a great shot. I think I just had to hit it a little far. So I was short there. – Just a little off the green.

But still… – Not bad. – We go for birdie. I thought it was an amazing putt. – I hit it just what I thought. – It didn't go in. – Yeah. I thought I made that one. – Okay, new par still the good round is going strong with not that many holes to go. (soft music) – So this is hole number 10. I hit, I think iron off the tee.

Cause there's water on the right. I hit a good shot. So I had pitching wedge out. – This is one of my favorite shots. It looked good. I mean it's not right on it, but the distance was great. – I kinda pulled it and then yeah, it was okay. – I filmed this one vertical for the Instagram. So that's why it looks like this, but it's definitely not. Ooh! That's close. – It wasn't a great putt. I hit really, really low. – When you don't hit great putts do you always kiss your putter shaft? You do it. You kissed it. Next hole is the… In my mind, dreaded 11th hole Lincoln you've come to love this hole. I feel like it's really not as hard as when… – It's not that hard cause you're playing from like the women's tee boxes in high school golf. So you just hit like a 5-iron off the tee it's fairway.

It's like 50 yards wide. So it's really not that difficult of a hole. – And then hitting it over the water onto the green, but this so, you hit a good shot into the fairway with your iron. – Now pitching wedge out. onto the green okay. (soft music) Good game. – I just hit it really deep. I just wanted to make sure it's clear the water. – This is a birdie putt.

(soft music) just right there. Low again, short maybe. – Yeah, and this is the final hole. So number 11, it's really easy hole. It's drivable. And I just decided I'm just going to hit hybrid or iron and then just kinda lay up like 70 yards out. – At this point were you, in your mind knowing what your score was and being like, I need to finish a certain way on this hole. – Yeah definitely but I was like, the course was like really easy that day. So I expected one of my other teammates with like a 60, 61, not 61, like a 63, 64. So like I was like, yeah, I don't have a chance of winning. Like I just, I don't think that way at this point, cause it was a good round, but I thought that everyone else would go a lot lower cause it was playing really easy but yeah.

– And nobody told you what the score was or anything during the day. Did you have any idea like, oh, this you are in contention right now or oh, if you just do this, or hey, this player's over here. – No, I didn't know any of them or any of my other teammates were. – I do like that in tournaments. Do you prefer to not know that and just play your game? Or do you like to hear like, oh, this guy's over here you need to do this. – No, I like to know cause like usually I'm not trying to win the tournament. I'm just trynna play my best cause winning a tournament is tough. Yeah I expected to take like fifth or something. Five feet part here, which is good. It's really good. – So in the fairway short par 4 this is like second shot. And you'll tell by the background I was pumped.

Cause I'm like, oh my gosh, if he can hit it closer and then make it, he can potentially win this thing. That's crazy score. I can't believe I just watched this round. I hit a really good wide shot. That's good. It looks close from right here but from the camera angle, but it was still like 10 feet. – I don't know if that's 10. – It was like eight. It was at least eight. – Yes. (claps) – Yeah, that was a good putt and then yeah, that finished it for 66, which is just a great round, my best and my best ever really. – One thing I liked is that every high school tournament the coach that's their home course. He like hosts it. This coach is for, is it Pine View? – Yap. – And he does a really good job as like the host coach. (crowd chattering) (crowd cheering) – An absurd 268.

(crowd clapping) This is crazy guys to have a 75 not medal speaks a lot for our region. I mean that's stupid. That's insane. 568 or no. Yeah, that's right. 68 Cruz. (crowd clapping) Where's my 67 for 67 to not win a golf tournament also insane. K Boston's has done a great job. (crowd applauding) And then we got two this is the first time either of these guys have ever been up here okay at the very top of the leaderboard.

That's insane. Kaden Koch (crowd applauding) Lincoln Markham! Lincoln Markham! (crowd applauding) I know you guys all so good you don't think this golf course is hard guess what, it is okay, This is incredible, everybody applaud. (crowd applauds) – The course must've been playing a bit easy that day because the scores were lower at the same time this is mid-season everybody's playing like really well at this point. And I don't know, I don't wanna downplay but I think he does a good job at saying even though scores are low…

– Yeah it was impressive because top 12 in a high school in 4A. which is just like a little, we live in a little town here and for top 12 get points and for 12th to be like 74 to two over par, which is really crazy. – A 60… – Seven. – 66. 66, I had to look back into the thing. That's really good in golf. That's really good. – That's my second lowest round in a tournament. And then the following week was at a different golf course and everyone was just joking. They're like, I'm not even gonna try today cause I know I can't even win.

Cause Lincoln is just gonna go out there and shoot 59 break the course record. (Dan laughs) Then in the next week I actually played really well. I shot 64 that was my best round ever. Yeah, high school was fun this year. Yeah, I played really well. My scoring average was like a 70, which was really good. – I think you took fifth and okay, out of everyone in high school I think you took like fifth or sixth. – I took fifth and I took one week off. I didn't play in one of the tournament. So I only played in seven of the eight and then two of the tournaments I didn't get, you didn't get any points if you shot like 76, two weeks in a row.

So, yeah they still take fifth as really good. Cause that's just, I played really well at the end of the season. – Yeah, so there's high school golf. The big thing for golf at this age is not necessarily high school golf. It's super fun. And it's definitely something that I don't want to downplay and be like, oh, this was only high school.

But in reality, when it comes to like, oh, I wanna be a college golfer. I wanna move on to the next level. – Yeah. – Nobody really looks at high school golf. It's just the way it is because they play it from closer the competition sometimes is not as tough even though in this division, there are really good golfers, but still it is a really cool, I think individual accomplishment to watch that. And I think it sets you up well for next spring and summer, which is going to be like the bigger tournaments that he plays in every year. But now I feel like you should, I would think that you'd feel a little more confident going into those that you can at least make the cut in some of these tournaments and compete if you're playing at a good level.

– Yeah I think the State tournaments are really, really, tough too it's like the 15-18 division and like the cuts like it even or a couple over par for like two days, which is tough. But yeah, I'm excited for this next summer. It'll be great. And next high school season would be fun too. – So we've got a few golf things coming up. We're going to be trying out some new clubs from a few different golf club manufacturers over the next few months, which will be fun. We have some golf content with other golfers coming up and then I'm also going to this year now that he is feeling more confident in his swing and doesn't really matter about spectators and stuff. I'm gonna film and vlog some of his rounds and show some of these tournaments that are the bigger rounds.

And then this is gonna be the sophomore year. You're a sophomore right now. And then this'll be your summer. Would you want to ever play college golf if you had the opportunity? – Yeah, I'd love to. I think I'd prioritize going to like a college that I'm more interested in like a bigger school more than golf but yeah I mean even if I could just like go walk onto like a school, like UIU or somewhere like that, that'd be great. – That'd be cool. So this summer is gonna be a lot of fun. There's a golf video, it's been a long time for golf video and there should be some more to come, but there's a Dan and Lincoln react to Lincoln's 66 a 66. Now we're going to go hang this on the wall in our golf simulator room which I'm sure you're excited about.

– I am very excited. – Yeah well we have another one that has the 64. I just need to get it and get it framed. We'll put 'em up and then maybe this next summer well you'll have some other scoreboard things that we can take and put up if you do really well. Yeah that's it. All right, golf video. Bye – Bye..
