A couple of days ago i was driving home
and suddenly the engine lost power. As soon as i eased off
the gas pedal, the car would violently decelerate,
felt like fuel starvation but much more sudden.
I was pretty much home already so i didn't stop,
just drove slowly till i got home. First thing I noticed is that the fuel
line to the pump was pretty loose so i
tightened that back on and thought that fixed it.
Started the car up and it worked fine. yeah, so next day i was driving to work
and halfway there, yeah same thing happened. the car started
to spotter and lost power. i did
have some previous problems with dirt and rust
in the fuel tank and clogged fuel lines but then i always saw
air bubbles in the clear fuel lines. not this time,
they were full of diesel. the next thing i checked was the fuel
solenoid wire. i barely touched it and it fell apart.
the crimped connection was loose and the wire strands were black and oily.
the fuel solenoid valve needs constant ignition power to stay open and i guess
it wasn't getting that.
turns out it's pretty difficult to
solder with one hand while filming. okay i guess that's fixed
and let's go for a test drive.
