Marcel, how long has it been since you played golf? Over a year. Over a year? Alright, then we'll see how it works today. Hopefully not to embarrass others. Yes hello. I'm here at the Cavaglià Golf Club. This is about ten kilometers east of Lago di Viverone, 40 or 50 km away from Turin; also not far from Biella. And here I am going to play with a friend of mine, Marcel, and tell you about this club; and let the drone fly so we can see it from above. So, enjoy the clip. Here is the first hole, 323 meters from "yellow", but apparently there is no longer tee than yellow.
It is interesting that the tee – the teeing area – is an artificial turf. A very good idea. Great weather, isn't it? Unfortunately, our clip-on microphones switched themselves off on the way, so I later added commentaries to parts of the video. Well yes.. The second hole, a par 3. And what do you think of the course here so far? Very good, flat. And we're very lucky with the weather. But here so the "greenside bunkers" are always tricky. You play… Good idea, but it didn't get around that well. It wasn't a very nice shot… But I think the greens are quite good; it's pretty tight. But the green descends — the fine art of putting. Not much was missing. Yes. Wasn't that bad in the end … The fourth hole isn't very long. Nonetheless, let's see how it works. Very beautiful. Nice. Oh, that was quite OK. Thanks. Marcel, can you make it to the green? No— I had landed on the right, had trees in front of me and had to – or wanted – to punch the ball under the trees.
And that worked. Marcel was in the "rough" to the left of the fairway, but it wasn't too deep, and then ended up in the bunker. Just close is also a miss. There is a ball washing system at almost every tee. This part 3, not too long, but the green is well protected by bunkers. And the green itself is quite undulating. This is quite a long par 5; but back at the end of what appears to be the fairway the terrain drops away. And if you can hit it on the second or third shot, the ball comes down quite a ways on the other side.
Here you can see the edge where the terrain slopes down a bit; and then the fairway is very very tight so the ball rolls well once it has landed on the fairway. Incidentally, this was the only place where the fairway was hard due to the dryness and looked a bit worn. And back there you can see the slope we came over. Here a fairly long par 4, and here with my second shot. Yes, in this dogleg here the bunker is right on the "knee", impractical of course, and that's where I ended up. This is a pretty tricky hole: for one thing, the fairway begins quite narrow at the beginning. Then, right at the dogleg, there is a lake, so it's a risk to just take a shortcut there. On the other side there is a slope down to the green, so that you can gain some distance there again. But the green is then secured with bunkers. The second shot on the last hole Finally, a nice shot to the green.
Thank you very much, Marcel. And your impression of the course here? Goes well, for beginners and slightly advanced, and advanced. Thanks anyway. Yes, another selfie to end the day here. Was fun too. As always with golf: a few bad shots, a few good shots and above all: fantastic weather, that's what it takes. Exactly! So folks, I hope you enjoyed it. But I'll show you the restaurant, it's supposed to be very good. We will also eat something there or grab a bite; and maybe I'll take a photo of the locker rooms. Anyway, if you liked this, please subscribe to the channel. I've got different things on it, not just golf course reports, but also landscape shots with my drone, a few Tesla films, from these supercharger stations, also pictures from above, also with the drone. And I hope one or the other likes it. The course isn't as flat as I first thought, because it has some small hills; sometimes a few streams, a bit of water, trees too.
And it's not particularly difficult, the course. So a very, very nice location to play. Actually very well maintained. The greens were good; the fairways sometimes like the greens at home, cut short. There are also fairway bunkers, but not too many. So, you can move about quite swiftly. The greens themselves are of course protected by bunkers. The only thing I didn't like was that if you don't know the course that well, you always have to look a little after each green to see where it actually continues from there. But in the end it was all beautifully displayed. The restaurant is quite nice and now only sandwiches are served here in the late afternoon. But it all looks nice. And if you're in the area, near the Lago de Viverone, it's really worth playing here and on the hills nearby at the "Le Betulle" course, which is also top notch, more demanding than this one. But it was well worth stopping here.
The nice thing about the club: it still has this pool here, which of course belongs to the hotel, which is closed at the moment. But you can use the pool. Yes, and also this tennis court: I saw it with the drone, you can use it too. And here is the terrace of the hotel, which has been closed since the Covid period, but may be reopened at some point in the near future. But as I said: the pool and tennis court and the golf course and the supercharger can all be used..
