Having the right golf equipment can mean the difference between coming in under par or playing a terrible round of bogey golf. Wouldn't it be great to have one resource that not only serves to track scores, but also to help during and after the round? Did you answer yes? Great, because such a resource exists in the Garmin Golf app for smart devices. You will be able to download the Garmin Golf application for free on Apple and Android devices. This free app provides a number of benefits, some of which include digital scorecards and a view of performance statistics or previous shots. And with the release of the Approach R10 launch monitor, you now have the choice of membership to the Garmin Golf app, which gives you additional features such as green contours and the ability to play virtual rounds. But first, let's talk about what you can get without a membership in the Garmin Golf app. The Garmin Golf app brings scorekeeping into the digital age by allowing you to track scores with live updates as you play.

Sync your round scorecard after each hole with the app and your compatible Garmin device. While you're relaxing in the club, you can upload your final scorecard directly into the app, where you can compete in weekly leaderboards, organize tournaments, view stats, and even view scorecards from previous rounds so you can track how you're improving. And let's be real, there are a lot of courses so it can be difficult to remember all the rounds played. In the Garmin Golf application, you will have access to a database of more than forty-two thousand courses around the world. With Course Stats, you can not only easily see your average score for each course played, but also your data such as fairway shots, green shots in a given frame and putts per hole.

After using certain Garmin devices, you can sync and view shots on course maps with the Shot Maps feature that allows you to further analyze your rounds or simply relive some of your favorite shots. Achieve more than that hole you accidentally dug on the 11th hole with performance statistics. This additional analysis shows accuracy to the fairway or green, broken down specifically into drive shots, green shots, and chip and putt shots. After syncing your compatible Garmin device, learn more about your game with shot analysis that measures the quality of each shot compared to the average shot a professional player or players with a similar handicap would make from that distance and ball position.

Using the analysis of shots made, performance is measured in different areas of the game, such as drive shots, shots on the green, chip and putt shots, even shots from dangerous places. You couldn't get any of that information without the equipment you play with – your golf clubs. That's why with the Garmin Golf app you can monitor the statistics for the clubs, that is, the average distance you usually hit with each club or even the maximum distance. You can enter this information manually or pair your compatible Garmin device with your Approach CT10 golf club tracking system to take advantage of automatic club tracking.

That already sounds like quite a collection of features to help you improve your skills, so what does a membership to the Garmin Golf app offer? First, depending on how often you play, you have the choice between a monthly or annual subscription. Visit garmin.com/GolfApp for pricing details. Once you subscribe, you will get access to the following features. Just as important as the distance the ball is hit down the fairway is where the ball lands. And this is especially true when approaching the hole for the best possible putting situation. This is where the new green contour feature comes into play. On certain courses, look at the contours of the green along with the elevation or shading of the slope.

If you want to make sure your favorite courses have the feature before you subscribe, you just need to visit the website on the screen to do a search. Let me walk you through how to display the green contour feature on your compatible Garmin device. Once you have an active subscription, simply go to the course you intend to play that day, select the course on your Garmin device and start your round. If contours are available for that course, they will be loaded directly to the device if they are compatible, and once loaded you will be left with data for up to five recently played courses.

But what if you don't have a compatible Garmin device and would like to see the contours? You guessed right. You can see them. You can view the contours of the green directly in the Garmin Golf app during the round, regardless of whether you have a device or not. These last items are only available when paired with your new Approach R10 launch monitor. If you're new to the product, be sure to check out the videos we released during Summer 2021. First, once you record your swing using the Garmin Golf app while using the R10, you'll be able to view those clips from any device when you sign in to your membership account for the Garmin Golf app.

But your favorite part of the subscription will probably be the ability to play virtual rounds of golf in the Home Tee Hero simulator. With this simulator, you can choose any of our more than 42,000 terrains around the world. Up to four players can compete with the ability to view each player's position and ball trajectory on 3D course maps. Now you know everything. The Garmin Golf app gives you tools to help you improve your game, even when you're off the course.

And if you're interested in the premium features but want to try them before you buy – make sure you download the latest version of the Garmin Golf app to access your free 30-day trial.
