Hey everyone, Shawn and Sav here  to explain how leverage is gonna   be your best friend in the golf swing  and we'll wipe out your sway forever In order for you to, stop the swing. And you've  seen Mike Weir, Chris Marco, and Justin Thomas   would be examples of some players that actually  have a full-body takeaway. Waggle, right So what   we're gonna do is we're gonna integrate a  leveraged waggle to help you deliver your   shots to the target with much more authority and  ease.

So if Sav gets ready to deliver a shot here,   like you're gonna sting one right through the  wall into the offices next door there Sav.   So bring that club into my hands here  and stop. Beautiful. So you'll notice   right now Sav is already on the inside  of her left foot. Mm-hmm. , now you start   pulling a little harder and I let go.  Where are you going that way Exactly?   So your weight shift is automatic from there.  Mm-hmm. . So if you do the takeaway and stop,   now all you'd have to do now is complete your  swing and deliver your shot toward the target,   right Yeah. So let's do a practice  swing right next to the ball. So take away, take away and  then go up. Yeah. That's it.   Yes. Excellent. So you'll notice that the  golf swing happens in the first two feet of   that backswing.

That's the critical part of that  backswing. So when you do, take away and stop.   So notice she didn't move off the ball. She's  already turning out of the way. And if I tried   to pull her off balance right now, I would have  a really difficult time. Yeah. So if you let   yourself sway just a bit, Sal. Now Paul can't  do it, can you No. So you're already out of   balance. Mm-hmm. . Now, what would cause you  to sway in the first place is if many of you   just starting to play the game, you're gonna  sway to try and scoop the ball up in the air.   So when you're swinging Sav, what would be a  good task to deliver a ball in that direction One of my favorites is the hammering through  a door frame.

So you remember that one,   right So if we took a door frame and put  it up right here in front of the ball   and your goal was to squeeze that ball through the  doorframe. So notice how, go ahead and address it.   Notice how Sav is already through the  doorframe. A lot of people ask what's   with Sav in this forward shaft lean. Mm-hmm. . So  you can see that when it relates to a doorframe,   she's already through the doorframe. So now  go ahead and do a takeaway. Notice how her   position with the door frame doesn't change. Go  to the top of the swing. Doesn't that look like   she's in a terrific position to Push against my  hand? Look at that. So there's no way that we're   gonna push her off that hammer unless we use a  lot of excessive force. So back swing and stop.   Now come on down in slow motion and show us  how you're gonna squeeze through the doorframe.   Yeah.

So when you put some pressure on that  ball, you feel now that the low point is gonna   be right here in front of the doorframe. Yep. So  Savannah's task is to squeeze that ball through   the door frame and in the direction of the target.  Mm-hmm. . All right. So let's see you do it. Nice. Oh yeah. Nice shot Sal. Thanks. Just  a little off the back of the green. So let's   have a look at that face on, cuz obviously you  want to see that leverage in action. And you'll   notice that at the top of her backswing, the  weight staying on the inside keeps that leverage   through the door frame.

And you can really see  the body language is collecting the ball from   here and releasing the ball into that picture.  And her flight plan is a draw. So we're just   taking it straight over that bunker. And notice  how that bunker on the left-hand side is really   not a factor. So your releasing over that bunker  was absolutely perfect. Then, you attacked the   left side of that flagstick right there. Mm-hmm.  . All right. If I was delivering an ax through a   tree right here, notice I would never sway off the  tree, then I'd be shaving, barking up the tree.

I would never sway forward into the  tree. Now I'm shaving bark down the   tree. There's only one place I can be. So  I'm gotta hold myself against the tree.   And then on the way through, notice my left heel's  gonna plant and hold me behind the tree so I can   get through it. So I get leverage against it. And  then as I'm holding my leverage against the tree,   notice my right foot is staying on the  ground. It forces the left side back and   now I'm getting braced to keep me behind  the tree. So leverage, leverage through,   that's what keeps me in a great position in  relation to this. So staying behind the hit   is a major aspect of maintaining leverage. So if  I step to the side here, heave through. So notice   how my position stays wonderfully against the tree  back and through, take away. I'm against the tree. Finish the backswing. I'm against the  tree through. I'm against the tree.   So if you look at Tony fee now and you look at  all the success that he's had, you'll notice   that trail foot, that right foot is staying on  the ground.

Well past impact. And another thing   that you'll really see Savannah do extremely well  because she's staying behind it. The head staying   behind maintains this amazing tilt. The tilt will  maintain lag. Lag will give you the proper angle   of attack through the ball. If I were to fall in  front of it, I have to reach back. I'm actually   gonna have an upward angle of attack now because  starting at the ball, the club's going back in the   air and if I sway away from it and I'm scooping,  obviously I'm gonna hit the ground before the   ball. And if I did that, well you notice I  can't get to the ball up against the hammer.

I'm gonna squeeze the ball against the hammer,  I'm gonna squeeze the ball against the hammer   I got to squeeze through the hammer. So  this task of delivering through the hammer   is extremely beneficial to put you into  the right body. You know, the body part   positioning to perform the task. So I'm creating  leverage to stay with my task. For many of you,   you get to the ball and you're saying, okay,  I gotta hit the ball now or I gotta lift the   ball now.

And you lose sight of what that  is. So get your leverage. What am I doing   this leverage for Oh yeah, squeezing against the  doorframe still can squeeze against the doorframe,   squeeze through? And there you have it. Now we're  through the doorframe. So if you put, let's say,   an alignment rod vertical into the ground in  front of you here to simulate that doorframe   brace against it. And now I'm just staying against  that doorframe back and through.

Got my leverage,   got my leverage through the the doorframe. Holy moly, it's incredible how powerful that  is. So there's eight iron, 94 miles an hour   and my carry on that went right over the  flagstick at 185 yards. So got my leverage,   leverage, leverage. And you'll see how my back  foot stayed on the ground. Well past that.   Gosh darn it, that's just way too much. Club   incredible. That was 95 miles per hour  club speed. So there you have it. Let's,   you'll see the front view of those two swings.  You'll see exactly what we're talking about.   And you wanna do this with every club in the bag.  And you, we have an amazing series on our premium   channel that we're gonna be going through for the  next few weeks where we'll show you how to fade   and draw with this takeaway waggle. And it's gonna  help you get your leverage and also get you in the   right direction for your particular shot. If I'm  going fade, I'm going left of that intermediate   point. There's my takeaway waggle that's left of  my intermediate point.

If I'm doing draw, there's   a takeaway that's going to the right of the  intermediate point. So understanding how to shape   your ball from a leverage position is tremendous.  So hope you enjoyed that. We'll see you next week.
