[Music] so [Music] and deceleration will definitely kill your pitch [Music] hi everybody it's michelle here welcome back to golf with michelle today i will be talking about pitching so what's the difference between chipping and pitching chipping is somewhere around the green you know when you're just short or slightly over the green less than 20 meters from the pin i would call that chipping but anything more than that more than 20 meters i will call it pitching okay so there are three things that is really important when it comes to pitching first thing is we need to get the technical part right the second thing is the rhythm and the third is of course how to control the distance so i will start off today we're talking about the technical part of it first thing i would like to talk about is the stance i didn't mention for chipping that i wanted about two o'clock face wide or even slightly smaller than that but for pitching i would like it to be slightly wider but smaller than shoulder width okay so when we get that sorted out both position is the same just middle right i would say somewhere inside your right thigh handle over the ball as for weight distribution for chipping we had 70 on the left side but for pitching i would like to have sixty percent of the left side the weight stays sixty percent of left side throughout the whole pitch okay once again stance will be wider than two club face smaller than shoulder width ball position somewhere inside your right thigh middle right hand over the ball weight 60 on the left side all right this will be your setup position for pitching all right when we get the setup sorted out we're going to go into the swing so some people tend to think that pitching is just a smaller golf swing or we don't need too much power then we start to use our hands a lot which is definitely a no-no for pitching because if we do that sometimes we tend to sculpt the ball top the shot or even duff the shot so we definitely do not want that for pitching so in order to hit a solid pitch we have to make sure that our arms and body stay connected at all time so here's a drill for you i like to use the head cover but if if some of you do have the training here where is the ball and then there has string around it you can put it around your neck that's a golf training it if you have that great if not you can use your head cover as well so i would like for you to put the head cover between your arms okay this will help you to stay connected at all time this is what we got so far stance slightly wider than two clock face ball middle right somewhere inside your right thigh hand over the ball weight on the left 60 on the left side i'm going to keep my weight on the left side throughout the whole pitch and also keeping the head covered between my arms okay when we get the technical part sorted out we're gonna move straight into rhythm okay it's really important we have a good rhythm and to hit it solid and trying to stay connected at all time so for me i would like to use one two one two as my rhythm so it's gonna look like that one two one two one two one two gonna hit it somewhere about 30 meters one two so people tend to like decelerate a bit when it comes to pitching when you have a longer backswing and people tend to get scared and it starts to decelerate and deceleration will definitely kill your pitch all right well we have a good technique and good rhythm for pitching we're going to move into distant control i have a lot of people asking me how do i control my distance i would say that's one of the hardest part for pitching so when you have a good reader and good technique i'll tell you you don't really have to be worried about controlling the distance okay i'm just going to show you how i do it i have a lot of people telling me that they actually use their strength to control it like they would take somewhat like the same length of the backswing and then control how hard they hit it and they have been doing it for years that's actually okay if you can control it well but today i would like to share with you on how i do it so if you guys can pick a little bit out of it and it works for you please feel free to use it okay so for me when i have my setup and the technical part sorted out with a good rhythm i like to control my distance with how much backswing i take and i like to take it equal back equal through right now i have a 58 degree in my hand so for me for 30 meters my backswing as my club will parallel to the ground follow through parallel to the ground make sure we have a good setup and also the good rhythm that will give me about 30 meters so for 40 meters it's going to be just somewhat past parallel although the backswing is longer the rhythm is still going to be the same but it's going to look a little faster so my 40 meter backswing will be somewhat just slightly past parallel over here okay that will give me 40 meters so for 50 meters i measure my left arm parallel to the ground right arm parallel to the ground okay so the rhythm is the same but the swing will look a little faster okay that will give me about 50 meters what about club selection i have a 58 and 54 degree wedge that i used to pitch a lot with so for my 58 degree maximum i hit it about 60 meters to 65 meters that's my max i don't like to take the full backswing for my wedge so if i have anything above 65 meters i'll move on to use my 54 degree so it's really important you practice practice and practice go to the driving range don't spend too much time hitting balls try to set up distances and practice your pitching that will help you a lot with your game when it comes to set up your pitching distances i recommend you to do it from 20 20 meters onward so 30 40 50 60 70 and 80 meters so keep practicing hit 10 balls each for each distance and i hope you guys will enjoy pitching more from now on if you guys do have any questions please leave me a comment give me a like if you do like this video and also subscribe to my channel i'll see you guys next time
