hello and welcome to golf beginner world today we are going to be talking about the different methods of gripping the golf club and after we have chosen a grip method that suits our game in the size of our hands and length of our fingers then we're going to look at what we can do with this grip to get rid of this slice or the hook so I'm looking forward to this video let's get started there are three ways of gripping the golf club number one the baseball grip or the ten finger grip number two the overlapping grip and number three the interlocking grip these three grips are very similar the only thing that differentiates these three grips is the way we join their hands so let's start the baseball grip this is what the baseball grip looks like all ten fingers are touching the grip very important with the baseball grip is that you have your hands tucked in together make sure that there isn't there's not a gap between your hands otherwise your right hand will do too much the first thing you need to do with a baseball grip is place the grip in between the fingers of your left hand and the palm of your left hand now close your hand and when you close your hand make sure that your thumb points slightly to the right okay now take your right hand and move your hand down until your hands are touching one another and when you close your right hand your left thumb should disappear my right thumb points slightly to the left so that is the baseball grip the advantage of the ten finger grip is a lot of golf is disliked the other two grips and just feel that this grip is most is the simplest way of gripping the club and they just do it that way which is fine some golfers don't really have that much strength and we golf teachers teach our juniors to grip the club in this way with the baseball grip because the right hand comes into play more you can close the club better when your hands are slightly more apart but the negative of the of the baseball grip to me is that the hands are just too far apart and it's difficult for me to use their hands as one unit the second grip is the overlapping grip this is probably the most popular grip amongst pros and amongst the amateurs that I've taught and the difference to the baseball grip is the following I want to join their hands by placing my pinky on top and between my index finger and my middle finger okay I'll just place it on top the other three fingers go on the grip and I close my hand the third and last grip is the interlocking grip very similar to the baseball grip and to the overlapping grip the difference is is that I connect my index finger and of my left hand and my pinky of my right hand i interlock these two fingers the advantage of the interlocking is that the you are forced to have the hands as one unit as one single unit and when you hit hit the ball with this grip you'll feel like you're hitting the ball with both hands and that's a that's the reason why I use this grip that's the positive the negative is a lot of players grip the club really tightly and they tend to have sore fingers when they use the interlocking so they prefer to use the overlapping or the baseball so which grip method should you choose all three are great with all three grips you can achieve a handicap of nort or better
