I know that golf can be intimidating at times, being an LPGA certified coach, I have helped tons of my clients get into the game with baby steps. I will guide you through this journey as well, make sure you watch the full video and I will have exactly what you need for the golf course and you will never get kicked out of any golf course with these tips, stay tuned. Today I'll be talking about what to wear at a private country club. When you're going out on the course to play golf, you must have a collared shirt. If you're wearing a dress, that's perfectly fine, make sure it has the collar, sleeveless shirts are allowed as well as long as you have a collar, you got it.
Let's move on to your pants. Your pants need to have four pockets on them, no cargo pants with massive pockets on the side, that's a no, no to denim, so no jeans for a jacket or for your pants. And if you're wearing shorts, it has to be appropriate. So usually they say one hand above your knee and that's the length of shorts you should wear. Make sure they're not booty shorts as those are definitely not allowed. And key item in any kind of pant you're wearing, pockets. Two in the front, two in the back. Moving on to your shoes, you're allowed to wear sneakers, just make sure that they're clean and appropriate. Also that they have a good grip on the bottom of them. What we prefer is golf shoes, always with a soft spike.
Besides that, you're good to go. Collared shirt, pants that have pockets, no booty shorts, no denim, and shoes that have grip on the bottom that are nice and clean. Some of you might be wondering how do I know the difference between a private course or a public course. The first thing you must do if you've ever been invited to playing golf, always go to their website. Google the name of the course, go to their website. Every golf course will tell you if they're private or public, and if they're private 100%, they will have their dress code online. Follow me and I will show you on local golf courses in my area and what their guidelines are. Some are extremely strict, so I always recommend to tend to go on the safer conservative side that way you don't embarrass yourself and the person that's invited you because if you break the rules in the dress code they will kick you out and they will not let you play.
So make sure you watch the full video and go on the website of the course. So previously we spoke about what to wear at a country club or a private golf course, now let's talk about what to wear at a public golf course. As you know they're a lot more lenient on public golf courses, so that does not mean you go ahead and break all the golf rules, it's still no to denim, so don't bother wearing any, but they will be a little bit more lenient in your shirt choice.
So for example if you have a nice clean white shirt with no collar, you might get by. But on the safe side, always wear a shirt with a collar on it. As you can see I'm wearing a sweater, but it doesn't have a collar. This is acceptable on private or public courses. Pants, we talked about pants last time, two pockets in the front, two in the back. Right now I'm wearing pants only with two pockets. Acceptable in a public golf course, and they look like they're yoga pants, you'll get by with that.
Cargo shorts, they let you go by with that as well on a public course, still no booty shorts, so don't try it, they might send you back. And in terms of shoes, feel free to wear sneakers, always acceptable is golf shoes, some people wear sandals, don't wear sandals, don't wear flip flops, don't wear boots, that's very uncomfortable as well. Comment below yes if the next time you go on the golf course, you'll be wearing a collar.
Now let's talk about the driving range. Some people are scared is there a dress rule there, do I have to wear certain attire? Absolutely not. You are welcome to wear whatever you would like. I highly recommend wearing really comfortable clothes, athletic clothes to be honest so that way you can swing and be nice and comfortable in there. Also, flat shoes, preferably sneakers would be ideal. Now let's talk about Topgolf and Drive Shack. Let's say one of your clients has invited you out to either one of those facilities, what do you wear? Well let me tell you, I would wear extremely comfortable shoes, no heels at all, you don't wanna sprain an ankle at the driving range.
So wear comfortable shoes, wear a cute outfit, anything is allowed. I highly suggest not wearing a very low top as there's a lot of bending that happens in golf, but if that's your thing, go for it. Now you know exactly what to wear on the golf course. But some of you might still be a little bit confused.
