This video will cover 3 setup basics, and how you can use the golf boks to nail them consistently. We’ll cover ball position, stance width, and alignment. Ball position is how many ball widths your ball is from your lead heel. Our basic ball position graphic is the one with dimples on it. If you put your lead heel just outside the forward alignment stick, this ball position is 3 balls back. This seems to be pretty average for better players, but you can choose your own starting point if you want. Whatever your standard ball position is, be consistent and try to move it less than two ball positions in either direction. So how does ball position affect your ball flight? Moving it forwards will give you more loft and a more positive Angle of Attack, which should give you a higher ball flight. While Moving it backwards will result in less loft and a more negative Angle of Attack, which should lower your ball flight Here you can see the change in the loft between a front and a very back ball position.

Moving the ball position forwards will also make your club path and face go more left which will make make it easier to curve it left to right for a fade, or pull. While moving it backwards will make your club path and face go more right which will make it easier to curve it right to left, draw or push it. This image shows the change in the club face between the front and back ball positions. The Boks has ball graphics all over it so you can stay consistent however you set it up. The other side of the boks has the same graphics to help you with your stance width. Stance Width is how many ball widths your heels are apart. Our basic stance width for a wedge is 5 to 6 balls wide. This should put our dimpled ball position near the middle of your stance. In general the shorter the club, the narrower your stance, and the longer the club the wider the stance.

So how does your stance width affect your ball flight? Well usually a narrower stance will hit the ball lower, while a wider stance will hit it higher. Our third setup basic is alignment. Alignment is where your body is lined up compared to your target. We’ll focus on your feet, but alignment includes your, knees, hips, shoulders, and even eyes. Point the long edge of the Boks at your target with your feet parallel to it. Our basic alignment is straight at or parallel left of the target. To start, line up within a few degrees left or right of your target. How does alignment affect your ball flight? In general, the more right we align ourselves, the easier it is to make the ball curve right to left. And the more left we align ourselves, the easier it is to make the ball curve left to right. The first goal of the Golf Boks is to help you achieve consistent ball position, stance width, and alignment.
