all right how you doing today
it's gonna be beautiful look at this awesome spot we're in uh
we're gonna check out uh this guy today let's go well thanks for stopping by hope you
like this video and that it provides a little entertainment some
light some stuff that you may be looking for
and uh make sure you hit that like button subscribe to the channel too
and hit the bell so you don't miss anything now if you remember
uh not too long ago i did a little like 90 degree wedge thing
it was like a 68 degree but man that no balance that was a pine meadow
club well i was searching around the uh interwebs and i found this guy
by a pine meadow the other one did pretty well i still use it sometimes
fun club so i got this this is the pine meadow
look at that now non-sponsored they don't give me anything i went on amazon
and bought the thing so this is a little hybrid chipper look
at that thing it's kind of got a fake little
tailor-made rip-off logo right there right
look at that it's not a tailor-made okay it's super shiny um it looks like a
putter but it's a chipper thing so what i'm
gonna do is i've kind of always been against these
types of clubs but we're going to put it to the test
and see if it's uh if it's going to be useful look at this
watch this here's my putter here's the chipper look
at that huh they're kind of similar
this one just has 37 degrees of loft this has four okay look at that
pretty cool this is the odyssey rossi stroke lab pine meadow
it's uh that much longer than a putter four inches no jokes right now
how is it compared to a seven iron length okay
it's shorter than a seven iron okay so it's more like a wedge length
it's even shorter than a pitching wedge huh
so two it's probably 36 inches i imagine because this is like a 32 inch
putter so about four inches longer okay so who
is this club for why would you even use this now
at 37 degrees it's the loft of either a seven or an
eight iron depending on the types of clubs that you have and if you're
not comfortable chipping with the seven or eight iron
a lot of people aren't right it's just a different longer club
less control you gotta choke down and people don't practice that
so most people are chipping with some type of a wedge
however as you can see the sole on this is pretty thin
and a lot of times you're coming in pretty steep let's see the average
golfer so you would uh you might benefit from something
that has this type of soul on it huge soul
and it's got a little offset okay from the face to the shaft so
it helps you keep your hands in front of that ball
but we're going to put it to use and then what club
would you take out of the bag to add this because it's really
if it's a one trick pony but you miss a lot of grains
is it going to be worth it and uh then we'll we'll see like what club
would i take out of the bag if i were gonna put this
in and we'll put it to the test a little bit um
see how just it performs in a bunch of different scenarios around the green all
right let's just start with the basics a
little chip and run and we'll go on from there come on that went in ball stopped okay a couple
things i'm noticing one is i have to hold my hands
a lot higher here like this as opposed to this you don't want that
club going like this at all you want to have it pretty
flat on the ground so you gotta hold it upright which is a good technique even
let's say with your seven iron or something like that also
like i would never chip this with a seven
or eight iron so i'm trying to get used to
the run out and the feel here uh but it does go through the grass super easy
that's pretty that's pretty impressive uh like i
haven't chunked one which is good and i'm what i'm doing i'm
using my putter grip on here here not my
full swing grip so it's hard to get my hands up that high with a full string
with a full swing grip so i could use my putter grip so never would i hit this shot
uh i would never think to hit this shot with a club like this but let's say
you're not confident with your 60 or your
lofted wedge and you wanted to use your chipper let's see
how types of results you might expect okay i'm putting it down there too i like that those are all in a line that's pretty
crazy it's just a putting stroke it's just a
putt even that ball down in this bermuda
rough here what's good is you you know you're not
chunking down on the ball those are pretty good i don't know can
you see that line there can you see the line that we've got
that's not bad in that situation you know for something like this
let's let's give it a little more testing out like let's go a little
farther we got to know the truth going to know
that it's full capabilities okay 15 or so yards off the green
uphill uh rough a little bit of rough tighter lie let's see what we can do
here just kind of ball parking in on your swing one thing i'm noticing with this i
certainly start the ball a lot straighter
on my line like consistently chipping and go a little left little right
because that face is rotating a little bit you're taking a little more inside
here it's just a putting stroke it's easy to start those putts
uh pretty much pretty online it's not getting too far off so
in terms of direction i've never like chipped with that consistent uh starting
line before it's pretty pretty good all right let's
see what it can't do let's see if this can perform over the
bunker here and roll onto the green because that'll
help you determine which club to take out of the bag so
let's see what we got okay i mean that was pretty easy to get
over be honest with you now you better have a lot of green to
work with in this situation because you're not going to
open that up can i open that up and take a little swing okay you can but it goes even farther so
i would stick with uh the punting stroke and you better not have to go too high
okay but this is certainly gonna run out
pretty good after the fact uh can it perform out of
the trap though because i know a lot of people struggle
out of there that struggle with chipping because there's a lot of similar uh
things you're doing so let's see in the bunker how
pine meadow chipper does the goal is to get out right can we get
out with the chipper oh i used a putting stroke
that was easy and i hit it pretty clean i wasn't hitting behind the ball at all
i'm just trying to hit a a putt right well that's pretty good
go in all right so a chipper club who is it
for who's it not for obviously if you're a great short game
artist then i would not use any type of chipper
because it just limits your ability to get creative with a number of
different shots however if you're somebody who struggles in the
short game especially around the green and you're chunking a
lot of shots something like this might benefit you
and i don't care what kind you get i got the
pine meadow one and i'll leave a link in the description
below for this on amazon i get nothing for it so
it doesn't matter to me and the reason i got this one is because it most
resembled my putter so whatever um one resembles your putter the most
that's the one i would go with because it's gonna be a putting stroke and
that's how you're gonna use this thing putting grip hunting stroke i would get
the one that looked most like the putter i used best
and liked the most so that's why i got this particular model and that's what i
went with now what club would i take out of the
bag so if i struggle with my chipping then i would uh take out my
most lofted wedge sadly this is my favorite wedge my 60 degree so
i probably wouldn't use something like this but
i would if i struggled i would take out the most lofted
one and then out of the bunker i'd use my 56
or 54 the next lofted one out of there just transitioned to something different
out of the sand trap and then i would use this out of the trap if i didn't
have much lip to go over and had a lot of green to work with so you saw that
and i would use this all the way around the green pretty much everything
especially if the less confidence i had the more i used one of these and
what i would do though is build confidence by using a chipper
and then slowly work back in some of my other wedges around the green
so that hopefully you know i could then get rid of this because i do look at it
kind of like a crutch but hey if you need it
and you have the yips then stick with it go with what's going to get you the best
score and have you the best success around the
greens because that's a very important large percentage of your score so good
luck to you hope this is helpful this is kind of
cool gotta get used to it though that's for sure but it's easy to use
love you guys see you in the next video you
