Hello and welcome back to Badminton Insight,
if you're new to the channel we're Greg and   Jenny – two professional badminton players releasing
a weekly video every sunday on all things badminton!   Now today we've got a really exciting video for
you. We're gonna turn up to a match and pretend   we're complete beginners and see our opponent's
reactions! Now we're going to arrange this match   using RacketPal and for those of you who have
not heard of RacketPal it's a platform where   you can easily connect with anyone to play any
racket sports with. All you need to do is sign up,   connect with people within a certain distance and
then arrange to play matches with them and thank   you to RacketPal for sponsoring today's video!
So first things first let's download the app…

Why have you joined RacketPal? To find local players. What level do you consider yourself? Starter,
beginner, lower intermediate, intermediate,   upper intermediate, advanced or expert? Let's go
just beginner – it's the name of the title right? How long have you been playing for as a beginner? Less than six months, six months to a year, one   to two years? I like one to two years – I've been
playing for a couple years. Yeah you've not improved? Still a beginner? I started it in the garden probably in lockdown. And radius, 10 miles? 10 miles Okay so what do you want your name to be? Your
beginner's name. James I think, middle name.   And then Moore – my surname. Do you think anyone will get that? See if they do! Okay we've chosen our photo, we've chosen   our name, we're 26 years old. We're male, Greg's
male, James is male. Let's play! Okay so let's set   up our first match! Match level – maybe we'll go up to
intermediate just in case. Yeah. When do you want to   play? Saturday we're free aren't we? Yep Saturday
evening.

James's badminton match – you ready? Set up? Yeah! You organized a match the first day
you joined RacketPal. Yeah so there we have it. We're set up and ready if you can see that, and yeah
let's wait for our match! Two hours later.  So we've just had a notification that we have a match.
Someone called Pat has joined our match and   he's messaged us to confirm the date and time so
we've replied, we've booked a court and we've   also asked if it's okay with him if we film.

I've
said i'm always trying to improve and i think by   filming i could do this so yeah he's agreed so we're good to film and we're good to go. So it's finally game day. Now we have me James, a
beginner, playing against Pat who's put himself   down as an intermediate on the app. Now the plan
is for me to play with my right hand and act like   a complete beginner, like be really bad so I'm
like wasting his time and I'm going to switch   to my left hand and hopefully I'll start winning
lots of points so yeah we'll see but whatever   happens is definitely not going to be the match
he's expecting and honestly we can't wait to see   his reaction when I start playing properly!
So we've just got to the hall, we've sneakily set up this camera and now we're just waiting for
him to arrive.

I've only got my racket and   water bottle so I do look like a beginner and
yeah I guess I should probably do a warm-up. Nervous. First match I've played
since All England this. Is this him? Is that him? Is it Pat? Yeah. Hi, nice to meet you, I'm James. Have you actually warmed up yet?
I've done a bit of warming up yeah. I've been playing a bit in the garden
recently so I think I'm playing quite well.

Loads of rackets, I'm worried you'll probably beat me easily. Do you play with feathers or plastics? Oh usually feathers I've got one, I've only got one. Don't worry I've got several tubes in my bag. I've got two or three. And you don't mind Louise filming? No no it's alright. I'm not camera shy. She's studying film so she might get some weird shots yeah it's a
hobby of hers he's filming and editing.   So yeah. Ready?
I'm ready, I think I'm ready. Unlucky James.

You've definitely played before right? Yeah I have, I can't hold it in any longer. She doesn't study film, we've basically got a YouTube channel. We've kind of wanted to say we're beginners and
see your reaction. Yep great, that was fun thank you!  I hope you don't mind but yeah we're gonna film
and put it on our on our channel if that's okay.   Hi YouTube! So we've only done ten minutes
so we'll give you a 50-minute   coaching session if you want to? Yeah yeah
thank you. I'll get my proper racket and put my Victor top on. Yeah you're in Victor! We actually need a new shuttlecock now. I don't just have one! How was that James? Very good very good let's give
him a coaching session now.

He's got so much time, so much time. So we've just finished our session, thanks
a lot to Pat for being such a good sport   Sorry that it wasn't James that turned up and
you could have a good competitive game, I mean   you were winning quite easily. No that was fun and
I really enjoyed myself. Were you surprised?   Extremely thank you for that. What did you think
when I just started playing with my left hand? Okay that guy's probably done warming up
so now he's getting serious.

You thought I was getting serious. Can you just say
for our YouTube channel which we always do   "smash this smash the subscribe button", I can't even say it myself.
Smash the subscribe button, there you go!   So we've just got back from our match and
that was a lot of fun wasn't it? Yeah it was   but in all seriousness as you guys saw at the
start of the video the RacketPal App is so simple   to use and it's a great way to meet up with people
who also love racket sports and it's available to   download for free in the Apple and Google app
stores and we'll also include a direct link in   the description below.

It's so good we might even
keep it to play as some subscribers in the future   but we might need to take ourselves off
the beginner level what do you reckon?   Yeah maybe intermediate, probably a bit more
accurate. And thank you again to RacketPal  for sponsoring this video. We hope you guys have
enjoyed this video, there's lots more to come from   us in the next few weeks that you've requested
on previous videos so make sure you smash that   subscribe button if you haven't already and
turn the notification bell on so you don't   miss out on those videos, or tutorials and all things badminton and we'll see you on another video!
