And there are two shots from the Alabama grass,  one from the rough and one from the grass   that really amazed me yesterday. And it's  some of my students that are in Florida. Can   it really gonna benefit from this Or if you're in,  in an area where Bermuda grass is very prevalent   because you're in a, you're in a hot climate?  So we have a short chip shot.

That's basically   you're landing there and  trickling down to the hall. Right.   And you hear the commentators talk about this  on TV, where they say you're cutting the legs   out from underneath it. So I'd love for you to  describe in your words, how you perform the shot. Okay. Yeah. So w w one like  this, where say you have too many   of the friends that you can't re not real  comfortable with putting this because   you don't know how it's gonna react, put a roll  in. So this is where you would use this shot. And Yeah, yesterday, when you did this shot, you  wanted to put it, but there were a bunch of,   areas where there was no grass  and we could really divert the   ball offline.

So you really have to chip over it. Yep. Yeah. And you, and you want  it to sit or check, you know,   that's the thing you want it to sit  and check. So this is like, again,   where you get yourself in a situation  where you're, short-sighted say,   and you really want to hit it up there and get  it close to make parts to save par. And this Is say you don't care if you get shortsighted. Not much. It doesn't bother me much because I,  this I've, I've worked this shot out so much.   I just believe I can get it up and down  from anywhere with this, with this shot. That's why you're number two in Alabama. It will, it, it checks so fast.  Yeah. And then, you know, and as, as   this is another one where it, where I  kind of started working on this shot was   where I was, again, you're going to  really use the momentum of the club,   the most of the momentum and the  weight of the club to do that. So you're really feeling the weight  of the club head in this shot.

Exactly. Yeah. So it's a club head weight. It's not an arm  club weight. Exactly. So you're tuning into the   weight of the club head and you're allowing  the risks to give on this one, right Yeah. Just a little, just to list a little, I'm  kind of going to hold it. Cause again,   this is my field is I'm  going to skip the soul club   sole of the club.

I'm going to skip it just  right on top of the grass ever so slightly.   I'm literally just gonna trim the grass out from  under the ball. That's my field. That's right. Speaker 2: Focus is not on ball to  face right now at all. It can't be at All. No. So it, so it's the, really about the soul of  the club and the soul of the club is the bounce,   by the way, everybody.

Right. Everybody talks  about the bounce. It's just the soul of the club   and the angle of the soul of the club and  the grind that the designer put into it. So Yeah. So I'm going to, I'm going to,  as I say, I'm going to use the bounce   without having to think about using the bounce,  correct? Then, the clear task is I'm going to chop   the grass out from under it. There we go. The  other thing is, is when you do this, you really   get a lot of the grooves on the ball, right  A lot of the grooves. So it's got, that gives Like a rolling carpet That gives it the span, you know,  this, none of the gal or anything.   It's just, you know, I set up again, I'm  braced this a slightly downhill one. So   I'm going to brace just like I would on a normal  shot, no lean with a hill or nothing.

Right.   Where did you go wrong? Cause this has gotta be a,  I've got to really control the distance. Remember,   cause I want to get it close. Right. So  I'm going to skip this across the grass. And you're seeing the blur of the club  matching up with your direction to the right. Exactly. And I do this every single time is if you  haven't seen the Goldilocks go on again or go on   the premium and tap into the Goldilocks and watch  it. I do this every single shot around the green,   I'm going to go to the locks to this one so  we can see the glove there.

I've got to, I'm   going to have to only have to pitch this  about three yards, maybe four yards.   So I'm looking at, I'm looking at,   that's going to be too much and I'll take one,  always do one, just, that's not going to make it.   And then the brain says, I'm ready to go.

And  I'm just going to skip it right underneath it.   And there it is, There it is everybody, Couple of feet from the hole and it checks  really good. And, and I think that's a,   it's a great shot to have on. So it's one where  you can save a shot or two around for sure. Okay. So I'll let you do one more  of those. And then there's another   shot that I struggled with on 18 yesterday  that I can't wait for you to demonstrate. And here again, we talk about the moment using the  momentum is critical in this when obviously we're   using the momentum to carry us to that target. So  I'm going to try to land it right past the fringe,   let roll down to the hole and let the club do  the work and just let the momentum of the club.

Wow. I almost went in Now Jammie yesterday around the  greens and I sh I crap. You not,   is he threatened the whole, he hit the whole  forte four times and one out of the four went in.   I mean, that is like brilliant, brilliant stuff.  So you can see right there that there's a, there's   a whole lot on that one. So if we were to go a  little further out into some little, you know, on   the ball, sitting down a little bit in the rough  and I had this downhill shot like this yesterday   on 18, I blew it 20 feet past the hall. I made  the puck coming back though. It was a great,   it was, and then put it right in front of the head  pro as well.

And it froze really impressed cause   it was a big swinger and it entered, you know,  at, at, at a four o'clock position on the clock. So, I was really proud of the putt, but I wasn't  very proud of the chip. And I, I'm going to ask   Jamie to demonstrate that for us right now. And  I have another student of mine, who is, very keen   on seeing that as well. Cause he has to deal with  Bermuda, you know, heavy wirey, Bermuda. And he's   his, name's Eli. He's been on one of our podcasts  too. So, he's looking forward to that. So let's go   now that the ball is a little bit  more settled down, you can see   there's only half the ball showing now  go ahead Jamie, and give us a rundown. Okay. So, you know, when I will  only see half the ball, obviously,   the margin error here is, is a little different.  it's not as tight a loss, so you're, you're still   going to use the bounce to club.

But again, it's  kind of a lot when we hit off the tee up up high,   I'm going to change. I'm going to change just  slightly because I want, I still want again, we're   going downhill to the close pin. So I got to get  some groove on the ball, some groove on the ball, Grooves on the Ball, get grooves on the ball.  So a lot of people would have,   you know, you'd, you'd get this shot here.  And the first thing you want to do is   gouge it out. Right. Well, if  you can see ya, that went 25 feet Was it me yesterday? Yeah.

So you see it pops out. Yes. The grooves get Pops out just fine, but it's  not going to get me close to the Hole. Right. So we're, we're trying to save  par. Remember Yep. So we're going to get some,   I want to pitch it on there and let it check Your case. Make a birdie. Yeah. So we're going to go.  This is, I feel the skip again,   but this time I'm going to paint it  a little lighter. That's my field,   paint it a little bit. I'm going to  paint a little lighter. And in my mind,   the clear task is I'm not trying to hit the turf,  right.

I'm actually going to just cut the grass. So as you cut the grass of  that slightly open face,   then there will be some grass between  the club and the ball, but eventually,   the ball will meet some grooves for  sure. And that's where you get the magic A little more groove. Okay. And that's, that's  the key, a little more groove. And then,   you know, we're going to go to the locks, this  one to get it in there to the right distance.   And when the task is just to paint  the grass right out from under, Oh, look at that. That's  gorgeous right below the hole. Yep.   When you, when you do this, you will see that you,  you, you rarely miss like this because you're not,   you're not manipulating the club. You know  you'll see a lot of this open and yeah. And   that type of thing. Right. And that's okay.

I  mean, you can, you can pull it off sometimes, Sometimes This shot again, it's Not a difficult task to acquire. No. Is what you're saying. Yep. And the momentum  of the clubs always gonna put you in a good,   in a good position. You just, you  can't, it's hard to miss this shot.   If you just let the momentum of  the club go, wow. That may have A lot of shots, man. So that's a, it's great, it's great, I mean,   it's a great little tool to add to your box. Do  you know what I mean It it's great. Any, even   in the thicker, rod, grass, and stuff up north.  Yeah.

Work's amazing. It's great here because we   have control distance. Bermuda is a real distance  killer. Even out in the rough on a fairway shot. Jammie Lett Shawn climate, but not for long  because I'm going to be doing exactly what   Jamie's talking about and I'm going to  get good at this. I will mess with that   shot before I leave this week. I guarantee  it. Yeah. So coach, thank you so much. Oh Yeah. Looking forward to more of your  videos. we're, we're hoping to get,   a spot for Jamie on our channel for a while on  Saturdays. So you don't want to miss Saturday   mornings 9:00 AM Eastern time.
