you michael yeah i'm here for my lesson put them on the tour this guy's a beast do it again all right guys out here at the range got my boy 
john out here going to be giving him a lesson make   sure you subscribe if you're new but it should be 
interesting really cool lesson out here at sports   ohio really nice facility let's see what we're 
doing john's fairly new to golf so like what's   your experience with it in the game yeah man 
so uh when i was younger i took a few lessons i   decided to stray away from golf and get into 
baseball but uh i played a few rounds the last few   years but that's about all the golf experience i 
have so looking to get better today so it's gonna   be kind of interesting because john's actually a 
lefty i'm right-handed but i'm gonna give him a   lesson i'm gonna change his life maybe these tips 
could actually help you guys so hopefully you'll   find this interesting and i'm gonna give them 
a nice little lesson with all my lessons i just   like to have people take a couple swings just 
kind of see what we're working with have them   loosen up a little bit so john's got like a seven 
iron he's gonna take some swings see what we got ground balls don't put that in there i think you got enough ground balls in there so 
john used to play baseball with a lot of people   that transition baseball to golf the first thing 
that i tend to see is baseball you hang on your   back leg you're leaning back so that's kind of 
what we got going on for john but super easy   fix so what i want to try to do is put a ball in 
front of him he's lefty but i'm trying to mimic   is that all right it's good yeah so what we're 
going to try to do is when we take the club back   it looks pretty good i really want you to 
feel like you're pushing off your back leg   keeping your chest down and finishing with 
your chest up instead of leaning back so   you want to try a couple just staying 
down through the ball and finishing up yeah it's probably gonna feel a little weird for 
him just because it's totally different to the   baseball swing so i'm just trying to get him used 
to the feeling of staying down and compressing it does it feel weird or anything definitely 
feels a little weird yeah unnatural almost   time to take some full swings a ball i don't 
really care where it goes we're just trying   to get him that feeling of staying 
down and it's okay to hit the ground all right that's right lean back 
a little bit there yeah that's   all right we're still getting that feeling down that's all right that looked better though 
yeah we're getting the slice is gonna be there there we go do like one more all right that's okay but we got that feeling 
kind of awkward for him but we're just gonna   start working on that all right before we 
move on anything else i'm just gonna take a   look at john's setup because that's like the most 
important thing just to make sure we're set up to   the ball correctly what club you got there john 
i got a seven iron all right so let's have him   set up the ball see what he normally does here 
and we're just gonna kind of give him in the   right positions so overall not terrible the ball 
position is pretty good what we want to try to do   is get these hands a little in front of the 
belt buckle so you're almost there you go hands   are almost in front there we're gonna check his 
alignment just make sure the club face is decently   square try to make sure the balls are positioned 
into the center of the club face so kind of move   it toward there you go and i would actually 
take a step back there it is all right so now   everything's squared up let's see let's have them 
take a swing just kind of see what we've got here that's better though we're more square you want 
the hands up here a little bit yeah so we want   the hands a little bit forward of your belt buckle 
backwards that way when you're coming down you're   almost eating with your hands yeah if you're like 
here okay square it up a little bit all right that's all right cloud face is just a little 
open right now we'll fix that though it's all   going to feel super awkward just 
because brand new to it all right   better make it more like consistent contact 
is good just to start off just because   once you start making consistent contact 
the ball flight will come up in here that's all right what i want you to feel here is 
going to feel really weird so when you take your   whole clip and you're taking it down this is where 
you're at right now club face is wide open that's   why you're kind of in this low runner so i want 
you to feel like you're almost here and you're   coming down and you're almost it's almost passing 
through so almost like almost like the club   it's called releasing i'm just gonna try 
to let it pass through like that all right   not flipping your wrist just the 
natural kind of motion gotcha better that was a lot better felt 
better contact there yeah do that again i like that's we're trending though like to see 
that yeah so let's set it up more more like more   is it gonna feel like it's 
really closed right okay yeah but   that's that's pretty square so we're starting 
with it's square it's gonna come back square it's all right take a couple practice swings take the club back like halfway all right 
so what i want you to try to feel is   keep keeping your so for me it's my 
left arm straight but for you it's   going to be your right arm so straight 
straight straight here you're turning   that's kind of the feeling at the top i'm going 
to feel really weird yeah and then we're coming   down this arm's still straight and now we're 
turning our lower body turn turn turn there   you go all right so instead of the wrist going 
first arm arms first arms first yeah there you go all right let's see put him on the tour put him on the tour jesus this guy's a beast do it again let's do it again   that's okay club face is just open but that 
feeling there keeping that right arm straight   is that a good thought oh yeah i'm not 100 it 
feels a lot different but yeah because like the   big thing was like changing a swing or giving 
a lesson is making it make sense for the person   and whatever makes sense to you just feel it 
you know right no i definitely understand that that's okay that was just the lean back 
there's just a little lean back i feel   that though a little bit now we're almost there 
we're going to get a couple more like nice strikes better getting there so you're 
here so you're finishing here   we want you finish up here chest forward 
gotcha that's what that good one was ah that's all right felt better just better 
open the club face exactly see now see now   he's able just to figure out what's going wrong 
that's a big thing too just understanding it almost he was this close just pulled up a 
little bit i'd rather i what i'd rather see   a chunk just stay down stay down on this one 
i just want to see you hit the ground gotcha   there you go just a little left a little left 
but yeah no it felt good so you you see how   you hit down yeah it almost feels like you're 
gonna go straight in but the loft of the club   is gonna it's enough yeah exactly how did that 
one feel good man like john's now unable to   understand kind of what he's doing and so next 
time he comes out and practices he'll at least   know how to fix the problem so that's the 
main thing like you can come out to the range   hit balls the whole day and just really 
not get better but i'm just trying to do is   get him to understand what he's doing wrong 
so that way he can come out here and actually   practice and get stuff out of it but we're going 
to see a couple more swings here we want to get   him a couple more pretty much on that one that he 
absolutely knew so we're going to get him there   there we go nice little draw there we 
go all right let's do it again again it's right golf man it's not it's this is 
not a magic fix i don't have a magic touch   or anything we're just before this i mean those 
last two were never to be seen so we're getting   we're getting somewhere all right now we got 
john with the driver let's have him set up   so the thing with the driver is 
it's a totally different swing   so it's a little different than the irons instead 
of hitting down on the ball we're gonna try to hit   up just because we don't have a lot of loft to 
work with so we got him with driver i'm gonna   get him dialed in we're gonna start like see 
we're working with have to take a couple swings   all right i'm gonna have him hit one 
more shot and then i'll help him out so when we got driver in the hand we tend to 
get a little a little uh excited it's playing   a little hard so what john's got going on right 
now he's just leaning back so much trying to get   this thing up there so what we're gonna try to do 
so set up to the ball yeah so we're gonna put it   up in the stance so move your feet this way there 
you go so we want to play it off his front heel   so that's kind of a good rule of thumb there um 
set up we're going to drop his shoulder down so   just the hair just like that and now we got that 
good base and we're just trying to hit slightly up   we're not leaning back we're just i'm just taking 
the swing all right let's see what that does   almost kind of went up a little bit alright man 
sorry i almost feel like your chest is down here   just because he's leaning back so much i kind of 
want to feel like he's coming over it and kind   of covering the ball so yeah let's let's try 
that main thought is that arm straight there   we go almost we're close felt a little better 
yeah got more solid contact there still hitting   the ground so i want you to feel like you're 
coming up here instead of like down yeah exactly there we go not bad yeah we'll get it up in 
there a little left a little left that's okay   right now we're just focusing on getting it up 
in the air consistently that's the main thing   there we go that's okay we're getting it up 
in here yeah i just want it up in the air i'll   work on get that slice away later yeah let's 
get a couple just get a couple of them here there it is there we go see that's playable though 
oh it is just so like left but it's a little left   but at least we can play with that like you can 
just aim down the right side all day right and   you know it's not going to go right so like it's 
better than as long as we're just advancing it   forward like that's the main thing that's how 
does that feel though it feels great i mean i   was hitting him into the ground so but like oh no 
i mean i'm just starting to feel more natural yeah   like keeping the arm straight but i think it's 
mainly now just like i'm pulling up and back too   much yeah that's okay that's just like repetition
