On behalf of expertvillage.com my name is
Ray Boone and I run the Ray Boone Golf Academy at the beautiful Miami Beach Golf Club. Today
I'd like to present to you the basics of short game. So we're back with the bury line, again
ball position is going back in the stance, really off my right toe and in this case my
pin is cut really close, so I'm going to open the face a little bit.
What I'm going to do
instead of my normal backswing, I'm going to pick the club almost straight up and I'm
going to bend my left elbow. So I'm going to do this, I'm going to pick the club up,
I'm bending the left elbow and I'm going chop straight down on that golf ball. The idea
is that my club goes under the ball and digs it out of the bunker. If I made my normal
swing, my club would come in too shallow and I'd hit the center of the ball and produce
a line drive over the green.
So I'm going to pick the club straight up and chop straight
down on it and get the ball out of the bunker. Again, the tendency would be to not swing
hard enough and lead the ball into the sand, it hits the bank and it stays in the bunker
for you. So swing really hard on those, blast them out, get them on the green, get out of
the bunker some where even if it goes over the green that's fine..
