– Welcome, Adam Bazalgette
here in Naples, Florida. Two-time PGA Teacher of
the Year award winner. Want to talk to you today
about the golf putting stroke, and a couple of principles I think that'll really make the whole thing a little bit easier for you. Had the good fortune of being around some of golf's best putting gurus. And I hope this
information's gonna help you that I've learned from them. Stay tuned. (lively instrumental music) Well just missed it a little bit there. So golf putting stroke,
there's a lot that can be said about the putting stroke, and
the setup, and reading greens. Got lots more of that at
scratchgolfacademy.com and the other videos we have, please subscribe to the channel. But I want to give you this morning, one of the absolute basics that if you can understand this
basic pretty much everything in the stroke becomes simpler and you have an idea of
what you're trying to do.
What is that basic? Well there's two elements to it. Number one, you're motion should be coming from your interior. Not your shoulders, not your arms, your core that could be felt in the middle of the back, the abs, somewhere in your interior. That's where your motion
should be generated from. That gives you consistency, believe me. Now the second thing is, once your motion is coming from there,
this is a big, big key. The distance between the putter and you should always stay just exactly the same. If that thing elongates and moves away, or arcs and gets closer to you. Or scoops I should say, gets
a little bit closer to you. You're in for inconsistency. So remember this, this
isn't that complicated. Origins of motion from the middle. Distance between putter head
and body stay exactly the same. Why am I demonstrating
it up on this angle. You'll find it's a lot
easier to feel it up there. I would encourage you to try that. Let your arms slightly connect to you. Again, I've got lots more
of this on other videos.
And just make a few little pivots, and you'll notice on this angle
there isn't any great desire to lengthen your arms or
gap your arms away from you. And all you do, is you just
feel an exact tiny pendulum. Now certainly, you gotta keep
your center nice and still. It's no good having your
motion coming from here, and moving around a lot.
That's gotta be still. But believe me when the distance
between the putter and you is consistent you will have a
consistent repeatable stroke. And what's more you won't have
to try to guide the putter to get it to go straight, or arch inside. It will be a natural thing for you. It will do the same thing every time. Now one little caveat on that. One little word there, you're posture, show you that in a second, will dictate the amount of arch you have. If you get a little crimp in your arms and you get relatively bent
over the ball which I recommend. More bend forward than a full shot. Your stroke will stay
in a more straight line. Again that's a little simpler for putting. If you get your arms too long, or if your putter is too long, and if you stand up what's gonna happen. Your body's gonna turn too level and you're gonna create a
lot more arch than you want.
And I wouldn't be
surprised if subconsciously if you're sort of sense this, you don't start straying
away from your body and trying to guide the club to getting straight back and forward. We don't want that. So remember, two keys we touch on today for a simple putting stroke. Connect a little bit. Origins of motion is trunk. Distance between club and body is exactly the same throughout the stroke. All you got to do then
is get good posture, and you will have a, not
only a repeating stroke but a stroke where you're
not having to manage the club too much with the small muscles.
And kind of over control it,
which is very difficult to do. I hope you like this video. Hit the thumbs up button. Love to have you subscribe to the channel. Got lots and lots of free content that I think you'll find helpful. Trust you'll find helpful. There's a free course on
how to hit the all further. Would love to have you sing up for that. Get a little taste of
that, that's free to you. If you have a comment, leave it there. Would love to attack any other subjects you might find of
interest in future videos. So just leave that there,
I appreciate your time. Hope this makes your putting
stroke a little bit simpler. Thanks again. (lively instrumental music) (mouse clicking).
