The one thing I see high handicap golfers do wrong, is they try to crush the ball by hitting it as hard as they can to get it far and high and all that stuff. Problem is, by hitting it hard by using as much muscle as you can, to just muscle this club onto this ball. To crush it, to make it fly hard.
By doing that you are going to sacrifice consistency. Actually, if you look at the tour players, they hardly ever crush the ball as much as they can. They might do that off the tee, but they know how to control the club as well. So, that's not like you and me, so the next time you are on the tee, don't crush it, and hit it soft. So now I am going to show you guys how to do a proper swing, real slow and smooth. I am going to use my 5-iron, I am going to land on the green, hopefully. So let's see how this goes.
And of course, don't tense up. And waggle. If you don't know what the waggle is, by the way. Check out the link in the top right corner of this video. I am going to hit a smooth swing. That's what I am talking about. That is soft, it didn't hit the green, but it was super soft.
