cutting down golf clubs is actually a really easy process, even if you have no idea what you're doing with any of them, the only really difficult part is deciding what to do with the grip, so you can either take it off and save your grip, or you can just tear it out and put a new grip on it I have a separate video for what I just did actually which is why I feel a little dizzy because I'm a little fed up myself with all the spirit radiating that the video basically just shows you , how to take the grip off without actually breaking it, just a quick 2 minute tutorial and I'm doing a video next week on how it basically gives you an idea of how long our golf club should be, but today I'm just going to focus on how is to cut it yourself if you fancy trying it really only a few things you'll need to do it so the first thing you'll look at is the grips and what you'll need if you're just cutting g off you'll just need knife so a hook blade type of knife will work much better you can get one of these for £2 from ebay or amazon or something wrong connect everything i use in the description so it will do the job if you don't have a hook blade you can use a normal stanley knife and blade will do the job if you want to save your handles then you'll need a handle like the one I used in my next video I just mentioned and then when you come to re-grip at the end you'll need some double sided tape and stuff and some thinner type of solution like turpentine or white spirit or something like that again another video I have that would be worth checking out if you don't know how to regrip the club is my club regrip video.
I'll link all my videos in the description too if you want to check them out, it's easier to do them on their own rather than trying to cram the same thing into every video I do sin once you get it off and you've got rid of all the tape you'll need , then it depends if you are using steel or graphite if you are preaching steel you will need something like that so just a regular pipe cutter and they come in different shapes and sizes but do the same job or just something that basically cuts through steel but something like it won't work on graphite because on graphite it'll just be a splint on the shaft and it'll split it all the way down, just a regular regular saw just a regular hacksaw will cut through the graphite pretty easily and that's all you need to do it so if we're not paying attention how do the handles turn on and off all we need is if steel made a pipe cutter and if graphite did just a normal hack that saw h most people are probably lying away and i really don't think in reality you need a tutorial it's pretty common sense from there but I'm going to go through it anyway so when we got rid of the grip I cut it off if I was storing it I'd do the old grab bar trick like I say watch the next video if you need , it was with a hook blade so you just run it down from the handle and it just comes straight like this and it's straight away with the grip, put it down there and then we just get rid of the tape, which is the worst part about club repairs is to get rid of the tape a few moments later so as you can see it's a steel shaft and you were going to use a pipe cutter and if you want to get an idea of what it's lik e as well as the shaft you have to remember when you grab it again it will about a quarter maybe half an inch above the actual once you put it back on so bear in mind it might be worth marking it somehow on the sh on the back where you want to cut it, just mark where you want to cut and that will give you a clue how to reduce if you know if you want to cut it down a half inch or an inch then obviously measure it like that then you can just take a pipe cutter tour so it's a new one that I have which is a little smaller that sort pf the pone style probably works but better as you can see , that it's held together with elastic bands, so I had to get a new one, but I couldn't find any of those, so I had to go with the smaller one like that.
more times than not bigger is usually better if you get what I mean so it works exactly the same put a pipe cutter around the shaft and they were going to make a cut that was round to start just to see that the line was let's go cut it and how we just keep ip tightening it around until the whole thing basically falls out, so just tighten it around a few times and jus keep it around until it 's here, you can like cut it all the way through here and it'll come out completely and you'll end up with something like , which should be how much you wanted to cut it, and that's what our left usually cuts pretty well in most cases , unless it's worth just sanding it, but you don't have to, but maybe it keeps the handle from going through, that's what the pros will tell you, and there you have it, your cut is down, so from there all you have to do is put the g rip and then if you're doing graphite, that's exactly the principle dame, which does exactly the same thing, but you do it with a hack-saw instead pipe cutters I have a clip that I did when I did this video in the past and I just didn't like it so I'm showing it but I'm going to show you a clip of that because I really don't want to cut that shaft down but a vise will help but if yes put it in a vise or clamp, be careful not to damage the shaft, you might slide it in like cutting off the handle, you can place it outside to protect it, just make sure it's well padded as the shaft scratches easily graphite literally just hold and cut and cut it where you want it works exactly the same as with steel you end up with graphite and that should be good with beginners once you do that then like I say just put double sided tape fill grip of the solo and just basically stick it in there so your best bet is to watch my regrip video it will show you a little more clearly but yeah that's it it's as easy as it literally took me 2-3 minutes if I'm being honest , that is was when I was recording so yeah if you're doing like filler then yours probably looks like nothing but an hour it's just dead straight forward so that's all I can say thanks for watching and yeah see you in the next one
