Broken? Impossible. Advertising video The varnish is still in a pretty good condition, apart from the rust on the disc frame and a few dents However, I decided to re-varnish the Golf Because I don't feel like red really works with the offroad idea of the car Be ready for a surprise But first I'm gonna take care of the rust on the disc frame That took way longer than expected I didn't think I would hold half the frame in my hands while disassembling when I first saw these little rust spots I definitely regret not ordering a welded plate when I saw the little rust spot Because you can order welded plates like that on Ebay that already have the right shape and you can simply cut out the piece you need and weld it on so you can save time and don't have to bend the metal sheet Anyways, I'm gonna apply some two-component primer filler first The disc frame is now primed, filled, grinded and primed again the next step would now be to fill the subleties, sand, prime, fine tune again and then varnish but I'm gonna do that together with the whole car so for that I'm gonna remove the doors, the bumper and all the plastic pieces for this project I'm only using replacement parts from Ebay, as mentioned in my previous videos and of course you can find everything you need for painting a car on Ebay these are sanding pads for my rotary sander I got a 240 granulation, an 80 granulation and a 600 granulation I'm gonna prep the car with the 240 granulation put on some filler next and after that I'm gonna do the fine tuning with the 600 granulation the Golf is now completely sanded, which was a ton of work I worked on it until 4 am, but I'm gonna continue right away as you know I don't have a paint booth in my garage but I had a look on Ebay and found something pretty interesting I found these big white tarpaulins In my garage I have a double-T-girder and as some might have already noticed, I got these clamps as well I should have bought clamps like these way earlier, they are surprisingly handy and, like often on Ebay, pretty cheap my plan is now to put one of these tarpaulins on the floor and hang up two of them at the girder The only difference between professional primer and the one I use, is the packaging as you can tell these are spray cans, but it's still normal two-component varnish it means it doesn't harden while solvents evaporate but because two components react with one another to activate that I have to push this red knob in this tube the two components mix, I'll shake the can, and then I can use the varnish I'm done with priming, so now I can go on and do the fine-tuning I'm using the 600 granulation I'm gonna be wet sanding it, so I will do it with water to prevent clogging and as soon as that's done I'm gonna tell you what color the car will be before showing you the colour, i wanted to tell you two things I learned while priming the Golf first thing: It's very annoying to shake these two-component cans all the time You have to shake each can for 4 minutes and you don't really have the time for that while painting so next time I'm gonna shake them prior to painting the second annoying this is the varnish dust that gets on all the surfaces both painted and unpainted in a real paint booth the dust gets sucked away I decided to paint the Golf segmentally first I'm gonna cover everything exept for the roof, so I can paint the roof then I'm gonna cover the roof and paint everything else so the varnish dust doesn't get on the different surfaces and now we're gonna have a look what's inside this box not only do I have one pack Raptor paint but I also have 24 cans of two-component high gloss paint in sand colour I'm gonna use the Raptor paint to renew the bumper and all the plastic parts I had a great experience with that on my VW bus the amazing thing on Ebay is that you can get every RAL-colour as a two-component spray can the sand colour doesn't differ too much from the beige primer I used but it's high gloss and I'm a huge fan of the colour and i'm very excited how it's gonna turn out I'm extremly happy with how the paint turned out but I want to show you the whole thing only when it's build together again here I have all the plastic parts as I said earlier I want to coat them with the Raptor paint it's UV resistent so the colour won't fade out like it did here but first I have to sand everything very well with an 80 granulation one very significant part is still missing and again the product diversity on Ebay really surprised me I never thought they still had the original Golf country labels so I'm gonna put them on now I'm done painting the Golf and I'm very happy with the outcome I think it almost looks like a new car but still has the old, cool character, especially with the country stickers and it showed me that you can get a very nice result with a spray can and without a compressor that's almost professional I still have one or another intention with the Golf don't forget to subscribe to my channel so until then, have fun and take care!
