– In today's video, we got Micah back for his second golf lesson. Now, when we first saw
him, he was over the top. He was hanging back and his
club face was massively open, resulting in high, weak
ball flights to the right, losing a load of distance. So we got him to work at his club face and now he's back for his second lesson. – Yes, he is. And in today's lesson, we
work with him on how to create a great weight shift in the down swing. This is something that a lot
of amateurs struggle with, but it's such a key component, to be able to get that
consistent, pure ball followed by the turf. And we also do a very interesting
drill with Micah actually. So make sure you stay tuned. Also, if you haven't

Let's get to the lesson. Okay, so let's take a look
at what we're gonna do then, with Micah. First of all, if we just take
a look at the ball position. The ball position is a
little back in the stance. We've just identified that. When the ball's back in the stance, it can often encourage
a little bit of a sway in the back swinging,
which we see in your swing. As we swing back, we have
that little bit of a sway, not much turn early in the swing.

And then what happens
then when the ball's back, very difficult to shift
weight towards the target. So there's two things that
we're gonna work on today. One is how we work at the
hips in the back swing, and then we're gonna
work at how do we start to drive you towards the target, so we can get ball followed
by turf more consistently. Started ball position there really. We can get that right and then we'll show you
guys how we're gonna do it, with some simple drills that you can maybe do at home as well.

So let's start with ball position. And all I want you to
do is I want you to feel that it's forward in the stance for me. So it's it's ahead of center. – [Micah] Still close, huh, the center? – Yeah. It feels really forward to you? – [Micah] Yeah, yeah, yeah. – Perfect. That's good. That's enough that is. Let
me get you into the motion I want you to do. So let's start then, Micah, the club across your shoulders, actually. I just want to get you through just how we move that lower body.

So, if you place it right
across the top here, like that, then just cross your arms over for me. So in in your golf posture. So all I wanna do now, I'm gonna encourage you
to get some turn here, eyes down where the ball will be. Good. So really start to feel
as if this lower body now is getting more of this
turn early in the swing. So I'm gonna hold onto
your belt buckle here. You feel the difference in the hips? – Oh yeah. – Please come and take
a look at this actually.

I just wanna show you the
movement from the back there, what it looks like. – Like the episode of "Friends", isn't it? When he is got that thing
on his back. (chuckles) – Lean forward. So you look at this logo here. As I swing back just
notice what this logo does. It actually moves towards the target. Whereas what we often see with Micah, is it's logos moving a little this way. So the logo moves towards the target now and this is creating a good
rotation of the lower body. Different, yeah?
– Oh yeah. – And to help us with this,
if we're feeling tight when we do this as well,
what can often help, Micah, is just flare in the right foot out. Having a flare in that foot, creates some space for that
hip to open. There we go. So this now creates a bit of
space for the hip to turn. So if we just encourage
that rotation. There you go. So now it just makes that a
little easier in the back swing.

– [Camera Person] Does
that feel easy to you? – It does. It does feel
less yeah. Less strain. – I think what I might do as well and this is always a good thing, I think. Whenever you think- What I'm gonna do with Micah, is switch his focus to his body. Whenever we switch our focus to the body, often it just goes to crap
when we strike the golf ball. But that's okay because
we wanna make the change on the swing at the moment. I don't really care too much
about the ball at the minute. – [Camera Person] He's
okay with it going to crap. Are you okay with that too? – Yeah. That's called proper expectations. – Exactly what I'm setting
the expectations there. But the thing is, if we
get too focused on the ball and wanting to strike it well, then the attention goes off the
the area we want to improve. So this isn't cheating. Well it is cheating but
it's in a positive way. So all I'm gonna do, is tee it up, so we haven't gotta worry so
much about striking it pure.

You can put attention on the rotation and then we can really start to get some good work done here. So we are gonna have that
ball a little further forward. – We're gonna try and move it forward. (golf swing swoosh) – [Camera Person] That was nice. – Nice shot. Didn't
even break the tee peg. That was just pew. I might get this out in a moment. – [Camera Person] I think so. – (indistinct) (Camera Person chuckles lightly) (golf swing swoosh) – Oh yeah. – Okay. Yeah, yeah. We saw that. Yeah – That was left. Yeah. (golf swing swoosh) – Very nice. Really, really good. – [Camera Person] Beautiful shot. – Really nice shot that was. So the one thing I'd like to do, the left foot is sort of toed-in this way. The left foot's almost in this way. And when it's here, it's very hard to get the body turning through and when these feet are sort
of square on or even toed-in, it's just so hard to to rotate.

So it's gonna feel weird, this is, but this is something that
you can really work on past today, right? Foot's gonna be flared out slightly. Left foot's gonna be flared out slightly. And this is just really
going to encourage you to be able to move into the right side and then move into the left side. So the next thing I'm- The drill I'm gonna do with you now, is gonna really work
you hard in not swaying, but it's also gonna be firing
you so hard to go this way. So let's take your setup. – Yep.

Yep. – And what I'm gonna do, is
I'm hooking this around you. It would be quite easy to say, don't sway. I'm gonna hold you.
But I want you to work- I want you to be able to do the work. So what I'm gonna do is try
and pull you into a sway. So I'm gonna try and make you sway and all you've gotta do is,
you've gotta resist against me. So let's do a backs swing for me. Now I'm really working
hard at trying to pull you into a sway. Can you feel
out how hard that is? – Oh yeah.
– Okay. Good. So now I'm gonna be pulling Micah into it. So now he's gonna work
so hard not to sway. His whole right side's gonna be firing. – [Camera Person] He's turning
as well, which is good. – Exactly. The key thing
he has to turn with this.

So need to go again. So nice
and slow. Feel the difference? – Oh yeah.
– Good. Soon as we then do this
without me pulling on him, this'll feel so much easier. Have a little rest there. That glute is gonna be burning. – [Camera Person] Those eyes then were, do not make me do another one
of those for 10 more seconds. – I need- (laughing together) – Starting to fade. – [Camera Person] Either way, the other way just looked it in there. That was like the death stare. – I was like, take that band away. – So let's do a rotation now. There you go. Good. Different pace. – Yeah. – Good. So now what I want you to do is, I want you to get into a
through swing. The thing- All I want you to do
now, is we've resisted, but now I want you to be getting
into this through finish, where you're up onto the right toe. Literally all on the right toe, all your weight is on your left leg. Now I'm gonna be working
hard to pull you back.

It means you've gotta work so hard to go- – It's gonna be hard for me, yeah. – Now what I'm gonna do is- – Try and keep me from ending up there. – Yeah, so nice and slow you can go to the top of the back swing. Now I want you to get to
that left side now for me. Okay good. – Yeah.
– Yeah, yeah. – You can hear my whole
back crack. (chuckles) – Just go slow.

Don't have to go fast. I
want you to just go slow. Okay. So there we go. Slow
all the way to target. Feel the difference there, yeah? – Oh yeah. – So now we are really getting Micah, trying to work hard to go this way. And again you did say you got
tomorrow off work, didn't you? – (chuckles softly) Yeah. I do now. – [Camera Person] Guess what,
you have now. (chuckles) – So the key thing is now, we've got the feet a
little bit more like this. We've got you feeling as
if we can create some level of rotation now.

But now, I want you to end up almost like you could take a pace forward. So as if you could hit a
shot and just go right. I'm gonna hit a shot and I'm
just gonna take a pace forward. So from here, right foot,
left foot rotated, turn- (golf swing swoosh) And then from here you should
be able to lift that foot up and have a pace forward. Still
on the tee. This is keeping- 'Cause Micah's got a few
things he's thinking about. He's thinking of his backswing, thinking about his downswing and finish. We're taking the strike out of
it, so we can focus on that. All I really want you
to do Micah on this one, is just hold your finish,
quality and then through. Hold it there. That's where I want you to end. – Yeah (golf swing swoosh) – Hold it. Good. Better. (golf swing swoosh) Good. Much better finish
position on that one. – [Camera Person] Last time we saw you, is night and day what the
golf ball's doing now. – Yeah. – [Camera Person] There
might be a little bit left, but I mean that's fine.

That's part of the plan like
Andy's got at the moment, to mean, that was so weak before and they weren't going anywhere. – Flare, flare, flare. – [Camera Person] Yeah. – So let's take a look
at the actual swing, the last one that you've done there. So we'll see, backswing definitely better. We still have this little
bit of a late sway, but what we'll see in the down swing now, as you swing down, there's
definitely more movement. We can see us trying to
close that gap there. Doesn't quite get to the left shoulder, doesn't quite get to the line. You are definitely now moving
in that right direction.

And I think with a little
bit of time and practice, just on how we move, lower
body pivot, lower body shift, you'll start to see that
change quite quickly really. Now before you go anywhere, Black Friday is just around the corner and we are doing our biggest
