coach and I work on a lot in training. I tend to drop the club halfway behind me on the backswing, causing the club to be
misaligned and coming too inside on the downswing, resulting in a hook or block. There is a relatively simple exercise that my coach
gave me to do this. After the take-away, I have to align the racquet so that the grip end
of the racquet and the ball are on an imaginary line. If that fits, then the racquet is in the right
position and can be moved further up accordingly. It's not easy to do in one movement. Bring the racquet back, stop briefly, look in the mirror so to speak
and check the position and then bring the racquet up and swing through. You can also repeat the short backward movement a few times, hopefully eventually getting to the
point where you bring the racquet backwards, pausing briefly, and then executing the backswing and the shot.
Not my best shot…:).
