if you can master this distance control it's just going to save few more strokes on the golf course and you can shave those you can shave all you can shave all you can shave all three or four three putts on the golf course it's just going to help your score hey everybody it's michelle here welcome back to golf with michelle i would like to follow up on my putting lessons today so we have already talked about technique and also rhythm so today i will move on to distance control all right right now i assume that you guys already have a good technique and rhythm so when it comes down to distance control we might not be able to hit it as close as we want to the pin all the time so we'll maybe leave ourselves with maybe 30 40 feet from the hole so that's what we call leg putts so it's really important that we let the pot properly so we can have our short part closer to the hole and you don't have to be too stressful when it comes to the second part as i mentioned earlier we might not hit it as close as we want to the hole all the time or sometimes we might just be off the green okay i would like for you guys to try to putt before you chip so why i say that is because putting will require less technique and less technique means less mistake when you're off the green unless it's uneven lie or the condition is not so ideal yeah then maybe you will chip but before that i would like you to choose to putt before you chip all right to be a good long or lag putter it's really important that we'll be able to control the distance well in order to master the distance control i personally think that it's important to practice a lot but practice smartly and of course try to play as much as you can because it all comes down to your experience on the golf course but before that i would like to emphasize a little bit on pre-shot routine which it plays a big role for me and i hope it works for you too but everyone have different pre-shot routine it could be behind the ball or in front of the ball everybody just does it differently but i'm going to show you how i do my if it works for you just please feel free to follow if not you can create your own pre-shot routine that works for you right my pre-shot routine looks a little bit like this all right so i assume that i've aimed the ball nicely where i want to start the ball okay i'll take i'll stand about four to five feet behind the ball make sure i grip it nicely and light while looking at the hole take a few strokes i'll say about three to four strokes just to feel how hot i want to hit the putt to get it close to the hole or even into the hole i'm gonna walk up to the ball all right line up where i want to start the ball make sure i stick my stance properly posture is good all right grip is good now i'll take one look at the hole and when i look back i have to make sure that i will keep the picture of the hole in my mind and while i'm taking my stroke i'm gonna hit the putt according to how i feel and how hard i need to hit to get the ball close to the hole all right here's a drill for you guys for distance control i have six teeth set up on the ground they're all about three feet apart and i have one tee on the other end over there which is 15 feet away from the first tee okay then we have 15 18 21 24 27 and 30 feet okay we're going to imagine that this is the hole all right we always want to give a chance for the ball to go in a hole so we have to make sure that we put it past the hole so but our intention is not to get it more than three feet past the hole then it will make our second part a bit tougher this drill is to help you to get the ball to the hole or even just slightly past the hole okay all right now i'm going to demonstrate the drill i'm going to put it to the first three t's i have three here so it's going to be the 15 18 and 21 feet so i'm going to go with the 21 feet first just keep my eye on the tee just make sure i get the pre-short routine down to my eye on the hole or at the target okay take a few strokes over here now i'm going to walk up to the ball and have one look at the target make sure i keep the picture of the target in my mind and then take the stroke right that's pretty good over there now i'm gonna go four to eighteen feet pot once again keep my eye on the target take a few practice stroke all right i'm gonna walk out [Music] one look at my target [Music] okay now i'm going to go to the 15 footer one look at my target [Music] right that's exactly what i want so i run three parts over here but you guys can pick any amount of balls that you guys want put it to your intended target and try it out and see it works all right the first drill that i mentioned was uh from 15 to 30 feet but now we're going to go beyond that so i have four tee set up around the hole over here so we're gonna pick a hole anywhere on the green three feet you put four t's like three feet away from the hole and then i have three teeth down there that is gonna be 30 40 50 feet from the hole you can take any amount of balls you want again i'm gonna use three balls gonna try to put the ball inside three feet you could try it from uphill downhill whatever that favors you but this one for me is going to be slightly uphill and here we go okay once again i'm from 30 feet over here i'm going to try to get the ball somewhere three feet near the hole once again pretty short routine it doesn't matter from the hole you just have to make sure you have the same pre-shot routine at all time okay so pretty short routine okay okay sure i sit up correctly with good posture one look at my target keep the picture in my mind just let it go [Music] so i've got to speed pretty good over there all right so now we're going to move on to 40 40 feet from the hole okay get somewhere there now i'm going to move on to 50 feet one more look at my target make sure i keep the picture in my mind all right get out and see how it goes cut it from downhill uphill sometimes and i'm sure you're going to be a better leg putter from here this drill that i would like to add on is for us that wants to go out to play around a golf but we don't have much time to practice usually but we want to just get a feel of the green so you have about 10 to 15 minutes before you tee off this is one drill that i like for you to test it out or maybe we just call it a warm up right you don't need to set it up you don't need tees or any gadgets okay so you just need a few balls i would like you to find a spot on the green because sometimes if we have a lot of people on the putting green we might not have a hole or most of the holes occupied so we're going to get a few balls just put it somewhere in the middle of the green where you can find like uphill and downhill part and i would like you to putt it to the edges of the green okay just try to feel it you can go ahead with the pre-shot routine again take a few putts all right and just walk up we need to get it at least to the edge or somewhat past the edge okay just to get a feel of it [Music] okay exactly what we want okay okay so i advise for you guys to hit some parts before you head out although the green speed on the practice area might not be the same as the golf course but at least you get a feel and also get to practice your stroke a little all right guys that's all i have for distance control i hope you guys will spend some time on the putting ring practicing because we tend to overlook the importance of putting practice so i hope this drills will help you to control the distance with your leg putts better and you can make your shot parts easier and enjoy golf better cut better score better if you guys do like my channel please subscribe to it or like or even leave me a
