Simple backswing drill for beginner
golfers. Have you just started playing
the game golf, got a friend that's got you into the game and you’re really not
sure how to make a proper backswing. You've got
some idea that the club's got to go back and get into some sort of position back
here and just not sure where you should be bending at the hips or where your arm
should be or how much tilt you're getting. You're just a little bit
confused with the backswing. Well good
news is in this next video I'm going to show you a really simple drill you can
practice at home that will make sure you get in the right backswing position
every time and play much better golf. I'll see you soon
It’s Troy from www.hittingitsolid.com here. At this channel I show you how to make

The more subscribers I get helps
me grow the channel and keep on producing videos like this so we can
both keep on improving and playing better golf together, let's get started. Okay, so you want a simple backswing
drill and you're a beginner golfer. So
what I'm going to take you through, make sure you stick around to the end I'm
going to show you a simple drill you can practice at home to really cement a
great backswing in your game. But first
of all I want to go through a lot of common issues that golfers make with
their backswing. And as I just set up
here, most commonly golfers will not get enough turn. Now I'm going to pop a video up
above here, I think it will be and they'll take you in a little bit more
detail on how to get a full of turn.

But
I'm just going to demonstrate for this video where most golfers go wrong. So by
not getting a proper turn most golfers will, as I start their backswing they'll
sort of get to a point here and I'll just push their arms up, the shoulders
will stop turning, they'll just push there and stuff like that and they'll
have an incomplete shoulder turn. So as a
beginner golfer if that's you. Just
get to a position here and you feel like you just can't turn anymore and you're
throwing your arms up, the drill I'm going to show you in just a little bit will
really help you out with that. So it's
really important what you do in your backswing as you get to about this
position here where your hands are just starting the hinge. You keep turning those shoulders,
keep turning you try and get those shoulders turning close to that 90 degrees and then
you're in a really good position.

So
that's one key. Another one is I'll
show you that backswing turn from down the line just so you get an idea so this
would be an incomplete turn, this would be a complete turn, and
getting that complete turn helps you move into the transition, into the
downswing position. You can get into
a better position there now. The other
problem I see in the backswing is losing posture. What I mean by that is if I'm
set up, I think that my setup here I've got this nice angle as I'm leaned over
over the ball here. If I make a backswing,
where a lot of golfers go wrong, I usually see here once again
that same position in the takeaway in the backswing and they stand up and they
lose that posture instead of staying in this same relationship, this same distance
from the golf ball and they'll get here and they'll lift up and they're doing that
in an effort to finish the backswing.

Instead of letting their shoulders do
the rotating they'll get to here and this might be something that you're
doing you're losing this posture and you're not completing that backswing
correctly. So it's really important when
you make your backswing that distance your chest is from the golf ball you
maintain that same distance all the way through the golf
swing. This is not just the backswing but
all the way through, but we're talking about the backswing here today. So if you
feel like you're getting to here and lifting up the drill will really help
you and i'm going to show you in just a minute. So there's a couple of key fundamentals
as beginner golfers like yourself might be struggling with in the backswing. So
let's get stuck into this drill. Okay
here's our simple drill for beginner golfers. This is something I recommend
you practice at home with a number of reps and then work your way on to the
practice range and eventually you can even use this prior, as a drill as a
pre shot routine on the golf course.

So
I’m going to grab a club, you don't need to be hitting golf balls with this
initially. Take your grip now, what you're going to do
is hold the club out in front of you. Stand up straight, got a good, get your
normal stance, your normal set up and comfortable hands out in front. Now what
you're going to do is turn, get your arms back slightly, hands slightly hinging now
the next move is we're going to get our our bend at the hips and as we do that
where our arms then are going to go to the top of the backswing and then we're
in our backswing position just like that.

Then you can rehearse swinging through. So that's really as simple as that. That's teaching you how to get the right
amount of bend from the hips, the right amount of turn and getting your arms in
the right position at top of the backswing. I'll show you that again. I'll
also show you from a couple other different angles so you get the idea. Arms out in front turn, tilt over. Okay here's mine from down the line,
down towards the camera. There you have it,
it's a such a simple drill you can practice this at home, you don't need to
be hitting golf balls. As I said earlier
I recommend practicing at home first, just getting the feeling of those backswing
positions. Once you've got that built
into your game, go to the range do the same drill and just hit golf balls. You don't
have to be hitting them very far, just short shots will do fine. This will give you the feeling of
what the backswing should feel like.

You're going to feel all these correct
Positions. You’re going to feel the turn,
you're going to feel what the arms should feel like and that hinge at the hips. You’ll feel all those correct
positions so that when you go to golf course and play a round your golf backswing
will feel nice and natural. Give that a
shot I know that will help you out. Drop
a comment down below if you've tried this backswing drill to help improve
your backswing and play better golf. Maybe you know of another drill that's
really worked effectively for you to make a better backswing. Drop a comment down
below, ask any questions, I will reply to every single comment. Now that you've got
a simple drill for beginner golfers the next step is to move through to the
transition. So once you've got that good
backswing that's really important that you nail down the next position of the
golf swing. So up above this video I'll
have a couple of additional videos to talk you through the next stage of the
golf swing which is the transition which is really key that you work into after this
backswing drill with that transition.

Because it's an important part of the
golf swing to help you get down to impact and play a lot more consistent golf. So
