hey it's Errol inside the Profectus
golf studio. wanted to share with you a question that I get a lot of times guys
will come in thinking they want to hit it further and they're questioning
should I go steel or graphite we're gonna uncover if there's really any
change in how far you hit it when you go from graphite to steel or steel the
graphite stay tuned okay so I've grabbed the TaylorMade p7
60s left-handed because I'm left-handed and I've put inside a Mitsubishi Kuro
cage graphite shaft it's 90 grams stiff all right and I've grabbed a similar
lightweight steel shaft at KBS Max 90 or SR 85 grams tip so we're gonna put these
in this head so I've got the the 760 inside the graphite first and we're
gonna compare the speeds between these two all right let's do the graphite
first so I'll put the Trackman data up there on the screen for us to compare let's see what it does so 87 miles an hour on the first one
that is a little bit faster than I typically swing a 7-iron like the feel
of it – oh good 87 all right we're gonna switch these
out and see what we get out of the graphite all right so one of the nifty
things we can do here when we're doing the club fitting so we could take one
headlight that's the piece 760 I just hit and I can pop it off of there this
thing's just like the wrench you use on your driver I just need a little bit
more speed you can take it off the graphite we just hit and put it on to
the steel we're about to all right let's test it out all right
now we got the steel in here let's see how fast it goes
feels pretty similar it should be fairly similar wait didn't hit it well how fast
was it similar speed about 86 – one more Oh surprisingly like the
graphite better 85 so you're seeing the Steel's a little bit slower we're gonna
go one step further here and we're gonna switch from an 85 grams sort of a
lightweight steel the graphite we had was only heavy graphite we're gonna go
to a more suited weight of steel shaft for me and then we should maybe see a
little bit more change all right so I've grabbed the KBS tour 120 stiff here the
same shaft I play on my current iron so I'm going to pop that on to that piece
760 and see what the speed changes same process as before all right so we've got
the kbs2 or 120 a little bit heavier steel shaft stiff you can talk more
about how one thing is stiff but 85 grams another thing is stiff but 120
that's another topic but let's just see how fast it goes it really feels like
the similar a similar weight oh good it's drunk it nice 85 so what
you're fine in and I see this a lot my fittings people think they're gonna
swing a lot faster when they've got a graphite shaft
now they're getting older or they just want to hit it further we have a lot of
us do they think they're gonna get a lot of speed by switching to graphite but it
really doesn't change things a whole lot in my experience the switch from
graphite from steel to graphite usually the biggest win is in dampening
vibration ball usually it sounds a little bit better it usually feels a
little bit softer that's 85 as well so we're talking about maybe two miles an
hour it's not nothing but it's not a whole lot either all right so that's our
look into what is the difference between graphite and steel comment below send me
a message or something let me know what you think maybe I'm full of crap let me
know Syd
