Hitting, the ball fat, chunky, heavy, or even a little bit behind
the ball kills your consistency and it hurts your confidence so much. But the thing is there
is an easy fix. So easy. It's almost annoying. You've been there. You've
hit a pretty good drive. You're in the middle of the fairway. You can see the flag
you're feeling pretty good, but then you get up to
your shot and what happens? You hit it heavy. And man, does that suck or what? And I'm gonna give you one change to the
intent that you have that will make all the difference to get rid
of those swing faults. So you can hit the green with confidence. The first thing I want to discuss
is actually about the way your head is tilting. And you can almost think of it like a
laser beam coming out of your eyes here, which is gonna come into
a little bit of use later. But what we're gonna do is notice
even with the beak of your cap here, where is your head
pointing? Okay. Most of you, I wage will be sort of
straight down this way.
What it gets disastrous is if our headline
is sort of pointing this way here, okay, we want it to be just ahead. What that's gonna do is open up everything
here a little bit more. So at setup, all I want you to do is just
tilt your head ever so slightly. That's going to pay
dividends for so many things, but we're gonna get into that later. So just note that head tilt
after you've got the intent and your eye line better, we need to
develop the feeling of getting through. Getting through the boar is one of the
most paramount, simple golf principles. You must embed into every aspect
of your game from drive to irons, hybrids, even chip shots, really. And one of the feels I want you
to have is just to get the core through, by adjusting the eye line and where you
are focusing is gonna do a lot of this, but just to sort of extra emphasize it.
If you find that you kind of stall the
lower body or just sort of find yourself hitting at it a little
bit too much, still, what I want you to do is ensure
that you get your belly to the target through that's it? That is the only objective I want
you to have. So every swing you make, just try and get the core
through. Now it's the main tip, which is, as I said, it's
so annoyingly simple. And all I want you to
do is focus your eyes in front of the ball.
That's it? Okay. So it's not just that, but
that really is as simple as it gets. Why does this work? Well, it transforms the way you
swing because of your intent is different. It's about getting something through
and your focus because you are more than skilled enough to be
able to do this. Well. One of the main things that we need
to avoid as I showed you a little bit earlier is the casting
action is the tilting. Meaning that the shoulders are
instead of sort of moving through that way, they tend to
sort of tilt this way, where we dip down. Now that can happen, cuz you're trying to help
the ball up in the air, cuz you're a bit too worried
about hitting it heavy.
So sometimes the problem can get worse
and worse because the swing is sort of rocking this way. But when you do that, the arc bottoms down here, no matter how hard you try, you've then got to really try and force
the hands through just to make contact because this right side has dipped. And sometimes that has come about because
people think they have to shallow the club so much. Alright, you don't have to do it anywhere
near as much as you think, or as much as you are told, because
if you are coming over the top, there's other ways to try and combat it
that are gonna give you more consistency for a start. We want to try
and get the low point. Alright, the arc a little bit ahead of the ball
and yes, we need weight shift. Yes. We want this shoulder to sort of
be moving down that way. Okay. That is a positive move. The tailbone is gonna shift
and fall into the swing.
We need something that is just
a little bit easier. All right. All I want you to focus on is a
feeling of in front of the ball. Okay? We've got the eyes adjusted. We've got the intent of getting the
core through. We know that's coming, but as we set up to the ball, I am gonna focus my intention
just in front of it here, just in front, that is gonna do so much
good for your goal swing, to be able to swing and accelerate
through without hitting at it. I'm actually gonna give you a bonus
tip that was used by the recent us open champion. It's annoyingly simple, but it is going to really
give you something extra to See what it does for you to try and find
it subconsciously you are gonna be kind of aware that your club is too short. So you're not going to try
and sort of lift up out of it.
Subconsciously, you're gonna stay down a little bit more
and accelerate through don't believe me. Just try it. Okay. You can try it on
small shots. I've got a six iron here. However we can just do little shots. Okay. Just to swing through and
notice how good your contact gets. We ensure our head tilt is correct. We focus just in front of
the ball here and then we execute a swing that is smooth, has momentum and gets the core through. So there we have it, my friend, and
you can get a free trial to the art, simple golf club below. Now check out this lesson that is
gonna give you the emphasis that we've touched on here to take it to the next
level. And I'll see you next time..
