[Music] the gate drill the gate drill is a very simple drill to practice but it is a critical one to make sure you can deliver your club head square to your line to consistently strike the ball on the center of the club face tiger woods has used this drill for many years and it’s probably a safe bet that a lot of other pga players do too but why because it’s easy and yet so effective at helping you control the face and make contact right on the putter’s sweet spot step one set your putter head down on the green just outside the putter head both at the toe and the heel put a t down in the ground they should be wide enough apart to allow the putter head to swing through the gate you’ve made but close enough that a faulty swing will be detected step two make putts using this until you feel comfortably to pass through the gate every time if you have a tendency to hit your putts towards the toe of the putter you will find that your club strike will be hitting the t closest to you if you have a tendency to be hitting towards the heel of the putter strike then you will find that you’re hitting the tee furthest away in either case make the appropriate adjustment to continue until you’ve mastered the gate drill this is another great drill to use with the pro path putting mirror having the holes already set in the mirror will allow you to align this gate drill up it allows you to do the gate drill as you swing backwards and as you swing forwards through the putt that is what the pro path putting mirror was designed for this is the putting gate drill
